Not very long ago I came to look upon a lonely, broken man camping deep within the pit. He looked up at me with dark, aimless eyes as I strode stridently down the ramp to join him.

Suddenly (HAH!), an enemy flashbang flies in and blinds us from above! There is complete blindness for seconds that feel like hours.

But I am holding The Deag. And I am still.

The flash subsided and I was alive. Two clicks later and The Deag had baptized two more enemies into His grace. Confidently, I turned to look at the hapless chap that I had come to meet a mere moment before the battle.

He was alive.

He was holding The Deag but he hadn’t fired a shot. He had been too terrified and frozen with horror. From the shakiness of aim I could see he was obviously trembling.

“How did we survive that rush?” he beckoned of me, stricken by the stunning fact our survival was nothing short of a miracle.

“The Deag,” I assured him.

“You will learn.”
