PINGAS!
flaicher 18 Oct, 2009 @ 10:35am
I played on a few EU servers and my ping was around 50. No other problems either.

Do any of you guys mind testing this site's servers out? http://www.gameservers.com/game_servers/team_fortress_2.php

There are a bunch of demo servers all set in different places.
Comment back perhaps on which you think is the best one?
So far, it's the EU servers that work best for me. My ping rarely goes over 50.

Tested some demo EU servers, they're good for me. Tonight I'll try the US servers. Then tomorrow I'll post a few Demo Server IPs for you guys to test before renting our first =)

Of course. I'm spending tomorrow evening testing one site, the next testing another and so on until I finish. When I find a suitable host, I'll rent and then announce. But right now, I have a little coursework to finish off. :)

Do we have to pay some fee to play on our group sever when it start up?

I wonder if there's a group like this for people who use last.fm and play Audiosurf.

This week, I'm going to test a few site's servers before renting one.
I'm hoping to have one up by next week :D

Yes, good point.

I don't think vent should be a priority at the moment. Maybe if the group grows in time
.. 3 Oct, 2009 @ 10:42am
What about a Vent server?
flaicher 3 Oct, 2009 @ 10:29am
Yes, servers can be accessed worldwide but I think that US server should be located in east coast to reduce the latency of european players (if the US server is the first one to be rented) unless it's the european server that is going to be rented first (which should be located in UK to reduce the latency of american players).
.. 2 Oct, 2009 @ 7:19pm
Ah, shouldn't be a problem then.

Servers can be accessed worldwide

If I did rent a US server, would that mean only people from the US could play there or vice versa? I'm not really someone that hosts, so I'm not sure :P All I know is, I'd go as high as £50 ($80 Approx) a month. Is there anything that serves worldwide? I'm pretty sure that in my price range I could rent one US and one Euro. What do you guys think? I'd appreciate the help if you know a lot about this.
Durande 2 Oct, 2009 @ 4:32pm
I guess for the first server if we have more players in the US, get a US server, or vice versa. We can get another one later if there is demand. If we're counting, I'd prefer a Euro server.
kifter 2 Oct, 2009 @ 4:18pm
Will it be a Euro or US server?
Coca-Cola Life 2 Oct, 2009 @ 4:02pm
I think a 24 player server is fine to start, you can bump it up later if demand gets higher.
.. 2 Oct, 2009 @ 3:52pm
I've found a site or 2 where I can rent servers. How many players do we want per server? 24? 28? I wanna try and get one up and running by the end of the month. :P Also a Clan Match would be cool, We're only 13 at the moment, just wait till tomorrow, I think more will join. I hope more will join ;)

Maybe some lil clan match? : o
