The red shapes are bombs. When you shoot them they stop moving and deflect all your bullets. If you land on top of them (or hit them from the side, but I think you die if you hit their bottom) they will explode and destroy all objects within a small-ish radius. Good for a few hundred shards. If you can manage to chain a few together then a couple thousand isn't out of the realm of possibility.

all you have to do is move your mouse, if you right/left click you will fire some pellets (like a shotgun) and if you aim it under you at an obstacle or the ground it will make you fly
