Please don't punish large/blended families
First off, I see there's a lot of good potential here, and I don't want to only complain. But I'm heartbroken because this new system, as it stands, will severely affect our family - same household, same address - negatively. I hope someone will hear me out, because I know I'm not alone in this. I'll address my concerns and then throw in my own suggestions. I know there's already plenty of comments to sift through, but I know we're not the only family that has more than the limit or with kids who have to travel between households.

We have been utilizing the family library sharing for our blended family of 9. We're all a part of the same household (at least half the time). Right now my husband and I share our libraries with each other, and then each of us with some of the kids. It's not perfect, but we've made it work.

With this new system, we feel we're being punished for being a larger/blended family. First, we won't be able to share both with each other and our kids, unless we each have our own separate family (extremely detrimental to blending families together, having to separate them back out), or we choose favorite kids (obviously not a serious option). Second, if one of the kids' other parents decide to try out the steam family, the kids will have to choose between one parent or the other and which "family" to join. This is horrible to do to them.

Please, please allow larger families to have sharing between all of us, if we're moving to the new way of family sharing. Even if we have to submit something to show that we really do all live together, please allow us to keep our family in the same group. Secondly, please allow at least child accounts to belong to more than one family. If you want to keep it strictly family, even just two families (one per parent in a divorce situation) would allow them to be a part of each parent's household.

I can see there's a lot of good from this update, too. The idea of being able to play a game at the same time as my kid is exciting. The sharing seems simplified. I just beg of you to realize that without allowing for large or blended/divorced families, this could actually cause emotional distress to kids.

My pleas:
- Allow larger families, even if you require some proof that they're all the same household.
- Allow a child to be a part of at least two families, so they don't have to choose between parents/guardians/households.

If you read all this, thank you. Please consider all types of families with this new sharing system. Divorce and blending are unfortunately common, and gaming is one thing we've been able to share.

I wish there was any indication they were reading these.

I am in a similar situation and I really wish steam would change it somehow. It is frustrating.
Also from a large family. Was barely able to make it work under the previous system and had to exclude some kids who weren’t as active on steam. Doesn’t look like this is headed in a better direction…
