Oh, and there isn't any current beta that I can see as the one that had been ongoing went live today. The description of "Steam Client Bootstrapper (buildbot_winslave04_steam_steam_rel_client_win32@winslave04)" doesn't say beta anywhere either so I'm not sure why you're under the assumption that you're using the beta client. In fact, it includes "rel_client" as in "release client" as in "production client".
Don't worry, we all see what you're seeing.
I did not assume I was running a beta, I was asking if I was and if I was why it was not called Beta. Thank you, though. I did not realize rel_client meant release client, and I have no idea why I have never seen that in there before. But, the thing that really made me think I was running a different version was that when it was updating it will run the same "Updating" box that it usually does, and then it will close and open a completely white update box - and that right there had me puzzled. But, anyway, cool...
Was a beta, but has since been shipped officially within the past month roughly.
With good reason.
If only more people could be that aware of how the programs on their systems worked...
