LOL, Space Sim Central still lives! Just like a family, eh honeybone82...we get together at least once every 2-3 years or so. ;) While I'm here, I'll put a plug in for Star Citizen. Version 3.8.2 has just gone live and...yeah, it ain't finished....but it is awesome even in Alpha. Give it a try folks.

it's good that some things never change, i honestly take comfort that the Old Space Sim Central is still kicking. Lives change, people change, children grow up, I personally started making space game! I love you guys, and i will always love SpaceSimCentral.

Hi everyone. I have a problem with login to spacesimcental.com , so this is only place I can write this. On old ssc I've been using steam account for login. After changes I can't login via steam so I tried to activate account like instructed, but on first forum login I need to enter my old ssc password which never existed (was generated by steam and I am unable to retrive it). I ask ssc admin for help (like rereting old password, adding steam login, some other instructions) or removing my old account so I can create new one without problems. My login is same as on steam. I guess there are more people with this problem.

Actually what would be cool (I don't have vr glasses, but for THIS I might try to get them) ,, is below stated inertial game,, but turning your head let's you look out your various windows, so that 45 thrusting doesn't make you lose sight in your direction of travel.

I don't know if this post can be like its own thread, and get replies,,, anyway, I am looking for a game, but don't know if there is one. I've been able to goof around on evochron mercenary, but have a specific need from a computer game. It has to run froma n Xbox controller, cockpit flight, 3d "Newtonian" (face backward to stop, point 45 to complete 90 turn) , no-one gets "dampening" except on pointing nose and roll. (Dampening point and roll makes sense, both believable and easier)/.... (Actually dampened flights might work in close proximity to huge metal objects, where mag-lev type interaction makes tighter turns believable,, so dampening can be activated within thrilling distance from massive objects). ,,, and the rest doesn't matter/. I just want to use my Xbox controller to thrust around. (Strafing thrusts would be so weak compared to a huge main engine, for nearly all piloting pointing 45 would be preferred).

Hey guys! I think you should check out a game called Kromaia. One of the more "out there" games, it's a 6DOF arcade adventure shooter that can be easily modded and has really fun gameplay.

Sorry for my lack of updates, SSC keeps me busy and then I try to fit playing some games every once in a while. Playing Starpoint Gemini 2 right now and liking it a lot (review to come shortly). Check it out and support the little guys. Also a plug for the 3030 Deathwar 1.1 re-release (see website for info).

I'd HIGHLY recommend trying out Fairspace if you enjoy Vendetta Online or Evachron Mercenary. Fairspace is twitch based, you can mine, trade, be a pirate, a bounty hunter, etc. There is gameplay footage on YouTube for the curious. This is an amazing game for the people who enjoy direct control and fast paced combat.

Happy New Year everyone, another year has past at the station and there has been a bunch of new visitors and the Steam Group has grown as well. 2014 is going to be a great year for the space/scifi gamer so stay tuned and have fun. I know I have to save up some money to make a new gaming rig because Star Citizen is coming and I will NEED to be able to play that in all its glory. Hi lwudacus Beyond Beyan follows the MoO model very closely, but its on Desura not Steam, and its not finished yet either but there is a free demo.

If your feeling adventurous, Stardrive mixes real time with traditional 4X gameplay.
Sots is a simplified take on the 4X games, but good for a blast, best played with all the expansions, but I'd avoid Sots 2
But to get a quick fix try - 10min Space Strategy, again simplified but still fun, and its free.

Hi folks. New to the group and also been out of the loop with the gaming world for a while. Any highly recommended 4X space games areound these days? I remember the good old days of Master of Orion... looking for something that might live up to it.

Please try Evochron Mercenary as an excellent (and realistic) space simulation. But do take note that the Steam page for this game is outdated in every aspect. The game you buy and download has been vastly upgraded/enchanced and refined. Graphics are up to AAA quality and you can land on planetary bodies too! This is a brilliant title and coded by one bloke. It is worth mentioning that despite the hard drive footprint, the universe within Evochron Mercenary is massive with the opportunity to play exactly how you want.
Although Evo has been around for some time now, it still is an understated gem and should suffice until X-Rebirth or Star Citizen are born.

Hi guys! Desperately looking for a good Sci-Fi simulation waiting for X-Rebirth released in one month. I tried Taikodom recently, but I am not convinced. Is DawnStar enjoyable?. Does anyone have try it? Or someone may have an other idea? Thanks for your help ;)

I'm just happy that X-Rebirth finally has a release date (November). That happiness will likely transform to wariness as to whether it lives up to expectations!

Interesting to note, the new X game has a steam page, but cannot be bought yet. I'm looking forward to it myself, sad that there's still no multiplayer tho'
