Hi! If anyone still cares about TF2, I am right there with you- the game is very special to me. I know most of you probably were invited randomly, played a little TF2, then stopped caring. Maybe esp. about my server in particular.

I am planning a re-vamp of this server to try to encompass all the awesome content that has been poured into the game lately, and has not gotten enough recognition as I feel it deserves.

TF2 Casual Mode is great- the game is a true "Jump in and Play" game, but I feel there is a lot of awesome custom content that is falling by the wayside due to the ease-of-access of Casual mode.

In case anyone here doesn't remember my TF2 server during it's heyday, it focused on:

• tasteful custom content, i.e. votes, custom props, fun custom maps, and an emphasis on "let's not have a bunch of random bullshit that is alltogether confusing and an overdose on visual/audio stimuli." Know that mariokart server you went to one time? Every mod in the book? The chat was clogged with random bullshit plug-ins spouting shit you didn't care about? Random half-funny sounds played every 2 secs? Yeah.. I'm trying not to do that..
  
• The "Don't be a dickhead" rule. Too often in gaming these days it just lets slide people being toxic and ruining the gaming experience for people who just want to play a damn game and have fun. I usually give warnings, and then these people who say things like "uninstall bro" or "fuckin noob" just don't get the warning, I've just banned them when they don't get the hint. People play video games to have fun! And I want people to have that!
  
• Votes- DEMOCRACY! - Want to have a kinda cool, but goofy plugin enabled? Well, vote it up! If people currently on the server think it's too much than...it is what it is. I've tested the weight of these votes as compared to how much they influence gameplay- Hook enabled, RocketBounce enabled, gravity enabled (this carries a heavy weight).
  
• Tasteful, low-volume background music. I am anal as fuck about the volume, but I feel like "micspam" adds an awesome element that is not present too much in current multi-player games. William Tell Overture @ the A/D gate opening? Yes please.

Anyway, my main point is, I am working on a re-vamp, in fact, an entirely new branding and I'm hoping you guys will support it. I have a "store" that some of you saw in the most recent incarnation (last year) that incentivizes players to continue playing, and gives them non-game-changing rewards.

I am basically hoping, and am wondering if anyone in this group is excited/will support this? This is all a labor of love, and I have a lot of new stuff in the works.

I honestly don't care to reveal this personal information, mental health and substance abuse should be as discussed as if you'd had a broken arm, recovering alcoholic, and wrote this letter while I was in rehab. These are my current plans for the server, which is, I would say, half-way done:

The promo vid, and *hopefully praise gaben* the server, shall be completed by the end of this year, though I plan sooner.

Summary: Curious on feedback on, (and hoping that there's) interest in what I'm trying to do.

As a last bragging right for anyone who is not aware, the initial server gained a lot of positive reception, and the Reddit post I made displaying my awesome props I placed around maps gained 31 million fucking views when I posted it:

This is very personal but I feel like these issues need to be more discussed, I have no shame in saying this:

For years I have struggled with alcohol. Substance abuse and mental health issues are easily glossed over in today's society. But tomorrow I will be admitting myself to a long-term treatment facility. I realize this is going out to a shitton of people and I don't mind.

Tonight will be the last night in a long time (think months) that you will see me online. I will keep the server up but will obviously not be updating this.

If you read this far you are awesome. I will be giving away hats for answering trivia questions and will basically join in on the fun for the last time for awhile. If you appreciate the server, now's the time to show it.
