Gleichmachung oder Gleichschaltungist ein Begriff, welcher der nationalsozialistischen Terminologie entstammt. Das Wort entstand 1933 als der Prozess der Vereinheitlichung des gesamten gesellschaftlichen und politischen Lebens, also des öffentlichen und privaten Lebens, in der Machteroberungsphase in Deutschland eingeleitet wurde. Ziel war es bis 1934 den als Zerrissenheit verstandenen Pluralismus in Staat und Gesellschaft aufzuheben.

Mit der Gleichschaltung strebte man an, die (TTIP, NO WAR ect.)die zugleich dem nationalsozialistischen Verständnis des Volkswillens entsprechen sollten. Dies bedeutete die Überführung von Organisationen in die bestehenden Nazi-Organisationen: Entweder erfolgte die Gleichschaltung auf Anweisung oder in vorauseilendem Gehorsam (sogenannte Selbstgleichschaltung, wie z. B. Deutscher Hochschulverband, Deutscher Richterbund).

Heute sind es die gleichgeschaltenen Parteien, Religionen, Sekten, Protestbewegungen, etc.

Andere Verbände und Organisationen reagierten auf den Druck mit der ersatzlosen Selbstauflösung und Beendigung ihrer Tätigkeit. Allgemein betrachtet war damit die Einschränkung oder der Verlust der individuellen Persönlichkeit beziehungsweise der Unabhängigkeit, Mündigkeit und Freiheit eines Menschen durch Regeln und Gesetze sowie sonstige Maßnahmen der Gleichsetzung und Vereinheitlichung der Massen verbunden.


Entstehung

Der Begriff wurde 1933 durch den Reichsjustizminister Franz Gürtner geprägt und verwendet. Als Datum der erstmaligen offiziellen Verwendung kann der 31. März 1933 gesehen werden. An diesem Tag trat das Erste Gleichschaltungsgesetz (Vorläufiges Gesetz zur Gleichschaltung der Länder mit dem Reich) in Kraft, mit dem die deutschen Länder ihre politische Souveränität verloren.


Mit diesem Gesetz wurde der Begriff zu einem Synonym für die Maßnahmen der NaZi- Führung gegen Opposition, andere Parteien, Vereine usw. Gleichschaltung bezeichnet somit nicht nur die administrativen Maßnahmen, sondern steht auch für den damit verbundenen Terror.
