In the dramatic early hours after a server is wiped, it's common for players that made a new base to hear footsteps as opponents spy on them through the cracks of a wooden roof. One tactic when being spied on is to pretend to be AFK, so that the opponents outside aren't motivated to doorcamp. Such incidents become less common as bases are upgraded to stone and the server population slowly evaporates after wipe day.
