An anchor point is an uncommon type of raid base that's generally only constructed during a proximity war.

The advantage to building it (and what makes it distinct from a typical raid base) is the context that (due to being near the builder's main base) it can double as an outpost.

As the anchor point is near the builder's main base, that increased security relaxes the need for it to be constructed out of strong materials, which makes the design cheaper to build.

The combination of cheap construction and varied utility make it worth building, although it's somewhat rare because it's not seen as a necessary fixture in proximity wars (as opposed to more distant raids where the benefit of a proper raid base is more evident).
