Gov repels 10-hour assault by ORP
This was originally a Rust News article, published 13th Oct 2023.

Few Government members were in-game on 12th Oct 2023, so the seven members of the Gov's village (on Rustopia US Large) were outnumbered by the ORP clan that launched an unprovoked invasion from a fortress on a channel to the south. The invading group had 11 members attacking with “end game” weapons, while some of the Gov members had more primitive guns. The invaders had built a raid base on a hill at the southern end of the village, from where they pushed towards a tower in the middle of the village and hit it with explosives.

The attackers found out the hard way that the area had been mined heavily – the defender’s voice channel erupted with cheers each time a mine went off. Initially there were only a few ORP members in the opening stage of the battle, but after intense fire had been put onto the raiders, they soon committed more meat to the grinder. They were too late though, as the Gov had already looted countless tier 3 weapons, and turned them against the ORP horde.

As more ORP members made their way north to bring supplies to their raid base, they came under long range fire from a Blockhouse. They were being sniped by a semi-automatic rifle, and eventually returned fire with an L96. During one push at night, ORP had used nightvision, yet still struggled to inflict any serious damage during their expensive attacks. One village building had been broken into three times, and another (Blockhouse 55B, hit by rocket fire) was quickly patched up without any invaders getting inside it.

Little to no loot was stolen in the attacks, and the attackers resigned themselves to firing downhill from their raid base for much of the battle, until a charge was made by the Government which successfully blew into and captured the raid base. Fighting continued for a (relatively) short time afterwards, but not with the same ferocity that had sparked the battle some 9 hours earlier. Perhaps the invaders had to go and farm resources to upkeep their massive fortress.
