Government inactivity tax
Please note that this post about Rust culture (a video game) refers to a group named The Government and does not refer to an actual government or a real system of taxation.

The Government has a system of tokens called Yen which are tracked by a Discord bot and can be assigned to different members via Discord commands. Tokens are sometimes given in thanks for assistance.

When a user goes inactive from the Discord group (specifically, the "VC") for 3 months then their balance (if they have one) becomes available for the president to tax (at a "slow rate") using the !tax @RecipientName 17 command, which gathers Yen from the inactive members and sends it to the user named in the command, and uses the number in the command to determine how much to send.

A tax Discord channel lists the amount of Yen available for taxation. The president generally sends taxed Yen to a member in reward for helping the group in some way such as building a village wall. A notice in the Discord explains that "Mr. or Madam President is responsible for Government spending. They are encouraged to spend all available tax revenue to bring inactive yen back into circulation".

On 28th Oct 2023 the tax channel stated (under the list of (Currently available tax revenues) that there was ¥ 5759 Total and an "Expected new Government revenues over the next 30 days: ¥ 3392". At the time the "Total yen in circulation" (according to the yen channel) was ¥ 76576 with a "reserve" of 184%.
