A "farm run" (or "resource run") in Rust is when a player (sometimes joined by teammates) ventures on a journey to collect resources. This often involves the use of resource-gathering teas to increase the rate of resources gathered, with the journey going for several minutes to make good use of the tea bonus before it runs out, potentially only stopping when the player's inventory becomes full. Resource-farming bases are sometimes involved, having been built in resource-rich areas, which could be used to safely house tools and temporarily hold resources. Similarly to a raid, teams commonly create a team system in preparation for a run, to avoid friendly fire.

The benefit of a team going on a farm run together is that they protect eachother while making good use of the teas, although they may have to share the resources between eachother, likely having to venture far to make the run worth the effort. Mining nodes are a particular target on runs, although trees can be the focus if the team ran out of trees nearer to their base. To carry more resources, some players craft expensive items in their inventory while they run (generally on the return leg), which can be an efficient use of time if they already needed to craft expensive things like tool cupboards anyway, although the crafted items would take up space once they had finished crafting.
