When a player disconnects from a server, their character will appear to be sleeping. These "sleepers" are often killed by NPC animals that roam the island.

A ratio of base raiders consider it a bad idea to kill sleepers found inside the bases they raid, because when the victim reconnects, the game will display the nickname of the player that killed them (potentially motivating a revenge raid). Instead, raiders might just take the sleeper's weapons away (either as loot, or atleast to prevent the sleeper from waking up and attacking them).
