Steam Group for the "Vault 666" Rust server

The Rust Academy is a home for veteran players of Rust, and all players playing on the Vault 666 Rust server.

ABOUT our SERVER: The Vault first garnered some attention by headlining Community Update #47 for our interesting use of mods. (back when we were 'Fury Road') The cardinal aim of the server is to promote a clan-based community, but one where a lone-wolf player can still succeed and enjoy the game. We have 'fine-tuned' our mods over time to achieve the maximum benefit to gameplay. Vault 666 IP : 192.223.27.77:28015

Rust Server shutdown

Unfortunately the Vault 666 server will no longer online as of February 22.

As I'm sure many have noticed, myself and the other admins have been very absent from the server and the Rust world in general for many weeks now. Having spent thousands of hours playing in alpha development, I have lost faith that the developers of the game are up to the task of making this game even as much fun as the previous (legacy) incarnation, let alone as good as contemporary survival games out there. The last update saw Facepunch basically copy building parts and styles from other building games and put them into Rust. We've waited so long for a beta version, and yet Rust is making you wait for stuff thats already out there in other games. My suspicions that the task was too tall for Facepunch studios is , for me, confirmed.
I will, however, keep the Rust Academy page up for announcements on a potential new server, likely in the survival multiplayer genre. Also, if I see some major changes to Rust that validate a renewed interest in it I will be open to that as well. Thanks to everyone for joining and playing with us, and hope to see everyone in the next adventures wherever they might be!

2/4/2016 Update inbound, server offline until update hits

Rust will be forcing all servers to wipe with today's update. Our providers, (NFO Servers) wipe servers at scheduled times, so our server has been wiped already, we are just waiting for the update (which will actually cause another wipe by Rust) to start back up. Our server hasn't been owner-wiped in a couple cycles, so performance should improve with the removal of old or deprecated data.
The server will be down until around 5pm EST. There was no point in running it for the day since all efforts will be lost when Rust forces a wipe with the update.
So why schedule a wipe early if Rust is going to anyway? Basically because the 2 wipes are different. To clarify, we wiped the server ahead of this update by about 12 hours, because in order to do a complete and thorough wipe, we have to schedule it with the server providers. The wipe that Rust will force with the update is just a map wipe, and doesn't get rid of all the old data that causes a lot of issues/lag.
YOUR BLUEPRINTS should get carried over to the new map. I have saved all data related to players and we will try to get all that back so ppl can pick up where they left off XP-wise.

October 2/2015:: The server providers are waiting on the developers to release a playable, stable build. The recent update makes most buildings disappear after an hour or so. Once Facepunch releases a fix, we will update and wipe.
