Hi

I have tryed some maps today that look really good. I've played them as campaign but the also work for VS and even look like there are good spawnpoints on them.
I played them on a best dedicated server without any lagg what so ever and short loadingtimes.
So i recommend you(my friends) to download the maps below so that we can have lots of fun on these new maps.

Another 2 weeks left. Server seems a bit laggy to some, and mighty stable to others, if I understand correctly. Is it worth it to all chip in some money and pay for another month? Or perhaps a longer period? (It's 10 euro's each month) Would you be willing to? Discuss...

To use our own server, you can connect by it in several ways. One of it is using steam groups, which I haven't fully figured out yet. Another (and probably easiest) is following these steps:

- Start L4D2
- Open console
- Type: mm_dedicated_force_servers 85.236.109.30:37015 <hit enter>
- Now, do the normal routine of starting a lobby in one of the gamemodes you want to play and starting the game if it is full. It should pick our own server.

The Message of the day (the message that appears when you enter the server) is not working correctly yet, but it should say "Raven's" somewhere.

Please DO NOT use the server around 10PM (9PM UK) with another group of players then those in this steamgroup + invites. I WILL restart the server to get everyone kicked :D

So, as I try-out I decided to rent a L4D2 server. I've paid 10 euro's to rent it for a month. It is located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which seemed to be the most central location for most of us to me. Perhaps germany might be an alternative if this proves to be causing high pings to someone far away (like the swedes).

After some startup troubles it seems to be running smoothly now. Let's see how this baby performs in the coming few weeks, and then we can talk about if and how we continue to run this server.

I'm gonna just say it up front: I felt like there needed to be someone to take the step and try this out, but I'm not going to fully pay for the server on a regular basis. If it is stable and we like to keep it we could start raising money amongst ourselves to keep it running. It's only 10 euros/month. If we got 10 people each donating at least 1 euro/month towards the server, it is very much doable I think.
