Removing Online Content -
42.7+gb difference - and that is just dlc content, not what came with base game.

That said, to op, there are ways around the updates - like disabling automatic updates 'and' putting steam into offline mode to play single player, updates/downgrades, 'other methods', shenanigans with steamdb.info, and even/used to be some mods. Haven't personally tested this exact scenario (but it is something that fixes basically the same situation) but you could likely get an 'updated' appmanifest_271590.acf from a friend - and throw that into steam/steamapps with steam closed after the friend updated gta5 - and skip putting steam into offline. (infact, I usually upload that file 'here' within 2-6 hours of an update)

You could even go delete those dlcpacks if you wanted to recover some space - located in steam/steamapps/common/gtav/update/x64/dlcpacks - mp* folders. However, any verify files/future update will likely try to redownload it all again. Be sure you are prepared to never have that happen again to bypass their keeping storymode/online a 'seamless' 1 launch transition. The store page did say - requirements would change over time, hdd space included.

Also, if you intend on only modding storymode - some of the mp dlcs may be required - depending on what mods you install. For modding, it really is easier to just keep the entire game install - as who knows what some storymode modders have put, or forgot, in their mods.

But yes, size/bloat-combination of sp/mp has been a major complaint for a very long time.

Since you didn't detail 'what' those videos had you do - I suggest you 'reset' everything. (this of course has other possible issues)

Do it all til you get to 'test' ---- before actually testing -

Open c / program files / rockstar games / launcher - rightclick each .exe / application in there - properties, compatability, remove 'run as admin' checkmark - hit ok.
This is the default location - it may not be what was used. You'll have to find correct one. Same for all the others below.

Open c / program files / rockstar games / social club - rightclick each .exe / application in there - properties, compatability, remove 'run as admin' checkmark - hit ok.

Rightclick gtav in steam, properties, local files, browse local files - rightclick each .exe / application in there - properties, compatability, remove 'run as admin' checkmark - hit ok.

Open c / program files x86 / steam - rightclick steam.exe - remove the run as admin like all the rest. IF you do remove 'run as admin' for steam.exe , exit steam , open it back up.

Test.

Doesn't work? KEEP READING.

Exit steam. Rightclick steam, run steam as admin - try again.
If it works - you can set the steam exe/icon to run as admin to reverse undoing it.
*Some users may find they need to set steam, R* launcher, social club, and gta5 .exe's to run as admin. Some are capable of skipping steam, right to launcher. You must be methodical undoing it all, and testing.
