3 is minimum songs as stated - very easy to test if you have 3 -properly- working songs. With further testing - a 'blank' as mentioned below does not trigger a 3 count. Also personally tested 1-6 hour tracks, 128 through 320kbps - had no issues. I believe I had also tested some sub 1mb files in the past and they didn't work - also possible they are blank or yes, but I digress. I won't be testing that again.

Per R*'s faq - valid file types and non-drm music.

This means protected info inside the details of the audio file should = no, not <blank> or yes. Because it needs to be said- you can enable the protected attribute to show in file explorer along side time, date, size, bitrate if you wanted. Or you can look in properties, details of the file in the content section. You can also search using protected:yes or no - blanks didn't show under either when I tested. Some 'converters' will naturally pull stuff down, and give blanks. Some give no. Only use 'no'. Of course, there are other methods to simply restream/convert/reconvert to exactly what you what that may do what you need.
(I don't think mp3gain fixes that flag - i 'might' test later)

As for autoscan- it has potential to cause issues - depends how much music was shoved in. Imagine someone who shoveled their 25k song collection into self radio. I'd even be wary of 1000, 500, even 100*. Not in mood or position to test atm. Once a quickscan is complete - autoscan does nothing unless you've added more songs. If you've added a large quantity of songs- do the testing yourself. *results may vary due to hardware. It is also possible to have issues starting due to lack of permissions and how the quickscan information is saved - typically lack of admin/permission issues.

Tracks/playlists are generally saved in "%appdata%\local\rockstar games\gta v\user music" - they might be hidden. usertracks.db, and usertracks.dbs (this one you can view via notepad/etc). Potential for access/permissions/write/issues while generating these too. Can easily delete those 2 files before going into game to see if playlist is completely gone, or incase you are having problems loading after too much music, or with ghost music after emptying 'user music' etc.

Insert the rest of the usual self radio fodder here - the majority mentioned above -
Onedrive causing issues - using the onedrive variation of my documents.
Non-default my documents locations causing issues.

Make sure to use correct location: documents/rockstar games/gta v/user music
I have seen plenty not using the space, in both 'gta v' AND in 'user music'
If you have problems you can also try the location below - if you've put music in one, and don't see it in the other - then something is amiss.
c/users/<windowsusername>/documents/rockstar games/gta v/user music
(or other appropriate location if that has been moved/changed/symlink'd etc -.-)

As for the guy having problems with 4 files related to Media Feature pack on N/KN windows. Yes, quite a few back then shoveled files into their gtav folder to bypass the missing media feature pack and not simply/correctly installing the pack. By leaving those files (or using the wrong ones) in the gtav folder - it could have easily continued causing issues after windows updates, or even after correctly installing the media feature pack. Others simply have also had similar issues with those files but not on N/KN but had corruption/damaged files (or may have attempted replacing those files.. who knows anymore -.-).

Yes, audio manipulation softwares can be used to increase the loudness. Plenty of steam guides. (and, likely provide a second service I'm unable to test at the moment.... -.-)

Rumored special characters not working - possibly. Someone mention dashes " - " works fine here. Tested a bunch of others ~!@#$$#@%#&()[] so on - from everything I saw - if it could be saved in a filename - it worked. YMMV~

Someone mentioned lossless not working - not tested. The ones I have are 'blank'. Have not tested cbr vs vbr (if even worth it - was a sticking point in past for other devices)

For now - Important parts from the link at top of the post ------

What is the exact folder you are putting your music into? (shortcut, or files) Others in the past have had issues - because they were using Onedrive, and were using the wrong directory - though it appeared correct. Just asking~

Navigate to c \ users \ <user name> \ documents \ rockstar games \ gtav \ user music
Do you see your music there? Is that what it says in the location bar across the top?
Or.. click that / copy/paste it here.

They also state non-DRM'd.

Further tested-
Another 4 mp3 - no issues. Tab'd out - removed the shortcuts. Made 4 more shortcuts - to some 80-100mb wav files. Rescanned - works fine. Tab'd out - removed them - made 4 more to some 1+ hours .wav's - scanned - works fine. For giggles - tried 2 mp3's at 500mb each - not detected. Add'd a 3rd. Scans / works fine. Tab'd - removed the 1 of the 3 - rescanned - self radio went away. 3 is the limit here.

You said some say "no" and some are left "black" - I am assuming "blank". Post 21.
Only use those and test.

Also open regedit and navigate to---
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
And look in the right pane for Personal - what does that say?
It should say %USERPROFILE%\Documents

And - any other users on that pc? Are you sure you are in the correct user folder?

And--------
https://www.bensound.com/
4 songs across bottom - download and use to test self radio. They work here.
(buddy - idea - energy - cute)

1 - Can still be wrong. (and you forgot the user music folder)
2 - The 4 listed files I gave in post 36 - have none of that unless I am blind.
3 - Don't care enough to test.
4 - Well, yea.

Edit - yes, as also confirmed below. Protected = blanked out on the mp3's = won't work. If you are ripping stuff from youtube - try a different one to give you a 'no' status, or you can use another converter, or something like vlc player to stream/reconvert to get 'no' status. (at time of post - ythub.cc gave 'no')

Edit - because it needs to be said. You can enable the protected attribute to show in file explorer along side time, date, size, bitrate if you wanted. Or you can look in properties, details of the file in the content section.
