This group is for Game Designers and other people seeking to playtest board games regularly. The goal of the group is to create a community of game designers helping each other by playtesting each other's games. So please play other peoples games, not just your own:)

It's a good idea to add each other as friends as well. Makes it easier to invite each other to games, and it also makes it easier to access each other's workshop files.

I think it's a good idea for us to create events here for our playtests, presenting information in a structured way.

Particularly important is mentioning the length of the playtest event and whether audio is required. And of course exactly when it's happening, including timezone.

It would be nice if we all followed the same general structure for the information.

Something like this:

SUBJECT: Lords of Waterdeep Playtest

Date and time: 7 PM GMT, 01.01.2017
Playtest length: 30 minutes*
Communication method: Chat and audio mandatory, voice optional.

Full game length: 90 minutes
Number of players: 2-5
Mechanics: worker placement
Theme: fantasy, DND
Rules explanation: Rules will be explained by me, rulebook and tutorial video linked below.
Project status: early alpha, placeholder components

How to access playtest: Add me as friend and I'll invite you. Comment on this post to reserve your seat at the table.

*I think it's sometimes best to have a short playtest length, even if it means you won't be able to finish a full playthrough. It's much easier to get people to join for a short test, instead of asking for 3 hours of their time. If the testers enjoy those 30 minutes, maybe they'll join for the full game next time.

What do you guys think? Is that a good template? Anything that should be added? Looking forward to playtesting!

I've just added a new playtest event for my game. Anyone else want to add an event? Please do, I'm ready to test your games! I'm not usually on TTS so a scheduled playtest works better than spontaneously for me.

Hi Dave, glad to have you in the group. Your game looks interesting, word games seem to be an underexplored genre. I love Paperback:) hope I'll see an event for it here soon. good idea to introduce yourself here, maybe we should all do that, and tell each other about our timezone and schedule. I'm in Oslo Norway. My best playtest times are weekdays after 1700 CET time.
