Scamming, Begging, Phishing etc. The PCG Inquisition is Here
Hi guys, it was recently brought to my attention that these forums have become a hive of scum and villainy recently and hopefully this shall improve from now on.

That is to say that I am now watching these forums and removing harmful posts (so yes your report button will actually do something now). The sorts of threads to be purged are those horrendous giveaways (and no, none of them are legit) that attempt to scam you out of steam items at the very least and money at the very most, anything linking to any illegal or malware ridden sites and any posts begging for games.

The reason that this is only coming now is that, frankly, I did not know the forums were active as I was a chat moderator for some years and the chat itself has since died quite a deathy death. However, I am aware of the use of the forums and the plethora of issues now and will subsequently be fixing everything into a utopia of gaming discussion.

P.S. The rules and discussion guidelines will also be updated soon (i.e. there will be some)

Edit: There has been some moderation before today, I'm not sure who was providing it, but there is evidence of a fair few deleted posts in the past, thanks to whoever that was. The fact that so much still gets through is evidence of the dire situation though, which, again should hopefully begin to resolve itself.

Thanks, i hope to see better outcome for this. there's too many annoying users and knowing that PC Gamer is a big name it needs to be watched more than ever because its a big target for ill intent people out there.

No personal advertising without prior approval.

No fishing for reputaiton on personal profile as it is not even an official from steam and could lure to malicious ideas

I've got the rep stuff in there, the advertising is probably something I should work in, although I don't want this to restrict people from advertising for gaming communities and team-speaks etc. etc. but I am fully on board with adverts for basically anything else. I'd appreciate if any subsequent discussion could be put on the Rules sticky itself just so I can keep track of it whilst I am cooking spicy pasta and sausage (I am always cooking spicy pasta and sausage).

I don't restrict advertising unless its been checked by an admin in the group. anything is possible but joining their group by luring them with giveaways can be tricky, its nice but just to get more numbers in for such tricky practice is kinda doubtful imo specially when they turn into habits and uses PC Gamer just to do mainly that.

It does not say this is meant for info. It is meant for pc gamers. To promote and make gaming more fun. Stuff like that, it's in the name ... "common sense."
