As anyone who has visited the wiki in the past couple of days has seen, our resident hard-working bureaucrat Klow has been toiling on overhauling the Main Page almost entirely. As you can see, he has added new pictures that link to popular categories so anyone visiting can get a full list of all sorts of articles they may otherwise overlook. It also makes navigation easier for those who may not know exactly what they are looking for.

Klow has also made an ingenious discovery with the built in wikia coding that is now being used in the Feartured Article system to fully automate the process of changing them on the front page. The coding is simple but could probably be used in the future elsewhere on the site to make things a whole lot easier.


One last announcement to make is the good news that in the near future the OverWiki will be featured in Wikia's Spotlight. For those who don't know, that means that our wiki will be plugged from all of the wikis in Wikia in an ad of sorts on the sidebar of the pages. The idea of this is to attract attention and more editors to the wiki. Considering the OverWiki is hitting a lull, fresh blood couldn't arrive sooner!

After many months of fighting over the issue of all of the articles on the wiki that have nothing to do with the Half-Life universe and whether or not we should keep them, a decision has finally been made.


We have decided that since we are a Half-Life wiki, dealing only with all things Half-Life related, pages about other source games such as Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat and Left 4 Dead should not be on the site anymore. We will, however, most likely have a redirect page that will lead anyone looking up one of the games to the proper wiki that deals soley with that game or to the main website for the game. Alright first, since most of you probably don’t know who I am here, I am YabbaMyIcing on the wiki. With that out of the way, I would like to announce an unofficial wiki project that Klow and I have just started working on recently that with your guy’s help could probably be finished extremely quickly.

If you check out this page, http://half-life.wikia.com/wiki/Special:UnusedFiles, you will see that we have a lot of great images that have been uploaded and never put to use. Many of them can easily be added to their subject’s articles via galleries or even right in the article itself and really both help make those pages more informative and help clean up the wiki in general. So basically what we're asking is if you get a moment and you want to help out the wiki, go ahead and pop by the page and see if you can help give some of these images a home and make the wiki a better place! Remember that the cache for this page refreshes daily, so your changes probably won’t be noticed till the next day.
