The Nintendo 2DS

This blog post was going to be 25 things wrong with Humble Bundle but then I spotted something horrifying on a Nintendo blog.

Nintendo have announced the Nintendo 2DS, the successor to the 3DS.

What. The. Heck.

This is a step backwards for Nintendo. At least, those are my initial impressions. Nintendo made a flipping console with glasses-free 3D and the next obvious step is to make a console that doesn't include that feature? And that's before I even read the article.

GAME has gone live with its Nintendo 2DS price. The retailer is selling the new Nintendo handheld console for £109.99.

The Nintendo 2DS is the third iteration of 3DS. It is a cheaper model which plays 3DS games but doesn't display them in 3D. It comes in two colours - White and Red and Blue and Black.

Carry Cases for both models are also available for £9.99.

Luckily, you can't see the horrible pictures that reveal THE 2DS CAN'T FOLD!
YOU'RE HAVING ENOUGH TROUBLE WITH THE WII U ALREADY NINTENDO (side note- that is an excellent console and is selling way less than it should be)SO WHY WOULD YOU TAKE AT LEAST 5 STEPS BACKWARDS IN YOUR HANDHELD DESIGN!?!?!

The DS and 3DS's main physical strength is it can fold, which makes it very portable. Now imagine a 3DS that can't fold.

Nintendo is currently king of the handheld market- the DS Lite is the second biggest selling console ever and the biggest selling handheld ever. PS Vita has sunk like a ship, PSP has no games coming out for it any more and Microsoft has not entered the handheld market. The 3DS is a critically acclaimed handheld and nowadays actually sells pretty well, so why would Nintendo make the 2DS?

I have no idea either.
