Any fans of Pop Punk?
I personally love it. It's a nice touch to listen to after listening to too much heavy punk music.

It's a part of the Punk genre, dude. Can't be an elitist forever.

Also, that escalated quickly.

it is the antithesis of punk.

it has nothing to do with any movement, its just angsty teens complaining about their petty problems.

Wouldn't you say most punk music is about complaining about problems though?

I don't see pop punk kids going out to protests against the right, or even changing their lifestyle in any way to stop enabling any particular agenda.

just eating pizza and being nihilistic little shits.

How i see Pop Punk is it being a gateway genre into the other forms of Punk music. Pop Punk uses forms of Hardcore Punk, then listeners listen to Hardcore, entering into crust or Grind or PV.

It has its uses.

It's sort of like Nu Metal. You want to forget about it but it was good to use if you want to gently push someone deeper into the genre and enjoy it slowly.

Though, Pop punk doesn't involve Limp Bizkit and FFDP, so personally, Pop Punk is on a higher level than it should be.

Punk is a genre of music that is anti establishment. But you sit here and criticize pop punk bands because they don't further the cause of the left establishment?

Yes i like some pop punk Jim, but nothing newer and not to poppy.
I.E. Pulley, NOFX Propaghandi and such.

There are some decent pop punk bands, like Propagandhi, RVIVR, Fifteen, or The Measure (there are lots to list, really). I'm pretty cool with them as long as they're somewhat DIY or have a decent/fun message. There's also a lot of really bad mainstream pop punk bands that need to go straight to hell because they stand for nothing punk does, they just want to cash in on a hollow shell of what they claim to represent.

I would not consider Propaghandi as pop punk. Not at all.
