Copy it outside of the Steam folder, exit Steam and try to run it. If Steam doesn't autostart and it runs, then it should be DRM-free.

Hello, to anyone here.

I want to test the games I've bought on Steam to find out which ones I can play without the need for Steam or any other client program. How can I test this out on the same computer?

Hey all! If you are looking for more DRM free groups and inetrested to join it, here is the good one: FCKDRM!

https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/groups/fckdrm

We also have informative curation that will tell you whether any new game is available DRM-free and and which store front/s.

Denuvo will be in Team sonic racing I have a feeling that Sega is too scared of piracy or very greedy.

Ypulse is correct. The second link no longer directs to a DRM database, whatever that used to be.

Steam's drm is enough. We don't need more.

I agree. I hate games with DRM. I WANT mu games to be easily installable

@TapSkill, I used to meet «Steam-free version» in description of torrent releases when you can play offline without Steam client installed.
I seriously doubt I can play games purchased via Steam without Steam runtime, I've tried and found no way. Moreover, for several weeks my Steam client sometimes after complaining that it can't reach Steam servers goes down not offering me working offline. If you say it's not a DRM you're wrong.
Nagra 8 Aug, 2014 @ 8:15am
@TapSkill Exactly what I think. Unlike other DRMs, Steam has become more of a global game library and I happy with all the efforts VALVe has made to make it user-friendly in all of its aspects.
Aya 6 Mar, 2014 @ 3:25pm
Because multiplayer exists, I can't help but think that such games simply CAN'T be DRM-free due to the DRM being used as the service platform to play online. However, with games that have no online component outside Steam Cloud, there's no excuse for those games to not be DRM-free.
Syrsly 2 Mar, 2014 @ 12:27pm
Steam isn't really a DRM in my eyes. You can play Steam games without Steam loaded. :)
nowak™ 19 Nov, 2013 @ 10:50am
Seems that games that used GWFL before are dropping DRM entirely (well, save for Steam). Bioshock 2 is third-party DRM-free now too.
remm 19 Oct, 2013 @ 3:43am
The Batman games now no longer have additional DRM or Windows live (which is closing down). So Steam only, clearly a win for us since we're already using Steam.
Mateo 17 Jun, 2013 @ 12:16pm
There's ways around that, having to do with backup of files and changing the date on your pc.

I despise DRM, especially one that requires an Internet connection to PLAY the damn thing!

I hate it so much, I started my own group for gamers specifically against the WORST form of DRM, Online-Only DRM.

Hairy Goober 18 Oct, 2012 @ 10:08pm
Yep, the DRM's still there. Idiot here believed what the TopWare rep said and got burned again. I was considering a Two Worlds II purchase even knowing about the DRM on it, but since they've chosen to pull a page from the Ubisoft Book of Tricks, I won't be. Can't stand liars in any shape or form. :)
vibratoryblurriness 15 Oct, 2012 @ 3:30am
I just grabbed the current Groupees bundle (http://groupees.com/bm5) , and from the discussion around it I've gathered that X-Blades uses the same DRM as other TopWare games, like the Two Worlds games and Earth 2160. It isn't listed on the Steam page or the big DRM list, but people have been complaining about problems with it. One person supposedly from TopWare did post saying that it had been removed from the Steam versions of their games, but none of the games themselves have been updated, and they still seem to have activation limits. So I guess there's another one to add to the list. Maybe the reason no one noticed before is that X-Blades is supposed to be terrible and no one has actually bought/played it until now. Heh.
remm 17 Aug, 2012 @ 7:28am
Now waiting for that really cool groups update :) A discussion forum is going to be useful !
nowak™ 7 Aug, 2012 @ 7:51pm
This just in: the PC version of Final Fantasy VII is to be re-released soon with a slew of new features and online stuff, BUT it's plagued by DRM. I think I'm gonna tweet at Shawn Silverman and ask him if it's possible the DRM could be removed before the actual release as, while I myself no longer play Final Fantasy, I'm sure those that do will appreciate it and will become more inclined to buy it.
nowak™ 30 Jul, 2012 @ 1:06pm
@RootCookie: Borderlands 2 is still using SteamWorks. As for SecuROM being patched out of the first two Borderlands 1 DLCs, that would actually require a lot of effort on Gearbox's part, with extensive code changes and all that. That isn't to say they didn't listen to the fans for the latter two DLCs and Borderlands 2, however... (no SecuROM for all three, Gamespy being removed from the sequel and instead integrating the game with Steam)
ExiaRS 30 Jul, 2012 @ 5:13am
RonjaLin 30 Jul, 2012 @ 4:32am
I'd surely love them to patch out the SecuROM of the Borderlands 1 addons.

Everyone should research a game to see if it has DRM BEFORE buying it!
remm 18 Jul, 2012 @ 1:16pm
Yes, Steam is DRM, but the group is not against it since we're all using Steam already ;)

On an unrelated note, the new mobile app doesn't display DRM info on the store pages ... I made a (minor) purchase mistake during the sale.
ThreeSon 18 Jul, 2012 @ 12:32am
@AllUrBadges - If you're objecting to Steam's native DRM in general, then you're probably in the wrong group. The description is pretty clear: "This group opposes games that are using *additional* DRM software."
ThreeSon 17 Jul, 2012 @ 8:36pm
That's a good idea, Quake Master. Although, I have a feeling DRM in indie games that are applying through Greenlight generally won't be much of a problem anyway.
Quake Master 17 Jul, 2012 @ 6:54pm
We can use Greenlight to give a thumbs up on all games that don't use DRM, whether they are good or not and only prevent games from coming to Steam if they have DRM, then Valve will listen.

Tell everyone! We can end DRM this way!

I am so fed up with all this DRM shit...i have to change my motherboard soon and not only i have to worry about not loosing data etc, no i also have to worry about each single game. revoking yes or no? how etc...

I NEVER buy games with DRM at there full price...but no in summer sales i bought some games with that sort of shit inlcluded (dead space 2 , batman 1& 2, bioshock 2...)

when will steam react on that? why I am forced to think about that shit?
The Widow Maker 13 Jul, 2012 @ 2:23pm
Apparantly Anno 2070 gives you back an activation every 30 days when reaching 0 activations.

DRM inconviencing paying customers and making hackers/pirates giggle since it inception
Syrsly 4 Jun, 2012 @ 7:02am
There are certain game companies which I believe should be banned from using Steam to distribute their games, and Ubisoft is one of them. Their DRM is a nightmare. Same goes for recent games which use Battle.NET . I hate that service and was very disappointed when I discovered Starcraft 2 requires it.
audioBusting 23 May, 2012 @ 5:05am
Ubisoft announced back in April that it will require only a one-time online registration through Uplay (like remm said).
http://ghost-recon.ubi.com/gr-portal/en-us/news/news_detail.aspx?c=tcm:19-44259&ct=tcm:6-231-32
remm 21 May, 2012 @ 2:56pm
Not sure. It would require uplay activation (lame), but not sure if single player needs internet access (apparently not).
remm 9 Feb, 2012 @ 1:02pm
Sometimes they remove the DRM after a while.

Anyway, about pirates being treated better, the Ubisoft DRM servers were in maintenance mode lately, so it meant no games for some of the Ubi DRM games for legitimate users. (like when Steam is offline mostly, without the offline mode)
Gooseman 31 Jan, 2012 @ 8:16pm
God, it sure is lame when you buy a game and they treat you like a pirate.
I don't know why they hate people who buy their games so much.
Thank you for posting the offenders. I will avoid them like the plague they are.

I'm curious if there is a petition directed at these publishers on the forums or on another website.

Maybe if enough people pledged to boycott these games they would stop treating customers like dirt. Valve isn't doing enough to highlight the games that have 2nd party DRM either.
remm 26 Jan, 2012 @ 7:30am
Nice, From Dust is on sale. Getting it :)
