Hurt - NiN vs Cash
Many people say that Cashs Version of Hurt is better. I for myself say NOPE. Cash version sounds like a whiny old man, nothing special. NiN made a perfect song. The depression, the emotions, just perfect.

What do you think? Is it the mainstream "I like Johnny Cashs Hurt more because he was more popular" thing or do you think his version was indeed better?

While I love Cash and Reznor almost equally as much and their talents, the nin version takes the crown any day. I believe there are very, very few cover/tribute songs that are undoubtedly better than the original. Take Live and let Die's Guns and roses version, vs Sir Paul McCartney's for example. (just felt Axl Rose gave more drive to the song lol. I am also admittedly biased towards The Beatles.) With that being said however, when I was 14 the reason I discovered nine inch nails was via Cash's version when I found out he covered it. Each version is substantial and unqiue in their own ways:)

NiN version is much more real and better :steamsad:
Trent`s version is the only one version I recognize.
All that damn kids think that Cash made the original.
But as a big NIN addicted person I only want Trent`s emotions.
Since my teenager time

I say hurt live by NIN is the best. That cover is a great as well. Cash made it his own like Nirvana did with "man who sold the world". Gave an old song a new soul. Who would have thought a legend like CASH covering a new age industrial song? I would have loved to see Reznor face when he heard that. Both legends and I'm 35 yr old getting worked up over a song. lol
