The only (not real) problem with listening to NIN
I find when I listen to music, I don't always pick NIN to listen to, but when I do I can only listen to them and I find all other bands uninteresting, which the exception of Tool maybe. Funny enough if I listen to Tool I can easily go back to other music but there is something about NIN that gets me incredibly hooked and just ruins me for all others. I will get in a mood and start listening to them and wont be able to listen to anyone, which could last the rest of the day or potentially weeks. Does anyone else have this experience with this band?

Probably because their sounds and lyrics are so unique and brave

Most of their songs have interesting stereo effects too, my two favourite are closer and terrible lie

I've also listened to the 5.1 mix on With Teeth which was pretty interesting

Oh, didn't know there were 5.1 mixes! I've only gone through spotifi and I don't think it supports more than 2 channels

You need the physical copy, comes with a DVD you play on your tv with the 5.1 mix, worth a listen even if it's not your favourite album

Amen to Tool brotha. I'm with you on this one. NiN and Tool are some of the few bands that take the cake for me and I can go back and listen like it's the first time. Arguably Pretty Hate Machine was ahead of it's time in terms of lyrical content and of course what Darry mentioned above, "stereo effects". I think it's also worth mentioning that NiN did the entire soundtrack for one of the most iconic FPS games of all time, Quake. For like the entire duration of last year, the only things I listened to was in fact NiN and Tool (mostly because I was so hyped for Fear Inoculum). Tho no matter how much I binge one of my favorite bands or song, the magic does eventually start to wear off. I could probably sing you every single track off Soundgarden's Superunknown or Reign in Blood by Slayer word for word lol. So now that both Reznor, Araya, and Cornell's voices are ingrained into my head like a schizophrenic, I do my best to expand my Spotify playlists as much as humanely possible, even if it means discovering bleeding ear inducing tunes.

Not just the music in Quake, all the sound effects, everything. And the latest Tool album is pretty awesome :)

I swear though, both maynard and reznor's work are the audio equivalent of the Matrix films for me. I've watched/heard them probably at least 200 times over again in my life and somehow am still able to experience all of it with fresh ears/ears each time XD

I'm not comparing them to NIN at all, I'm just saying they're a band I can listen to and not get bored of easily.

Whenever I'm in this sort of mood it's usually with Devin Townsend's music, then the only other bands I'd potentially be interested in are others like NIN. Coz similarly to Trent, Devin is a soundscape artist with a distinct song-writing style.
