These are things i've learned over my time spent on Youtube.

#1 - Play something New/Unique. I get messages everyday from people wanting me to check out their channel and almost everytime i see the same thing "minecraft hunger games" and they wonder why they arent getting views... As much as I love minecraft it has become an outlet for people to start Youtube channels and frankly it is saturated, all new content is buried under all the popular MC stuff. Find a new game that you think you will enjoy that a lot of people arent covering and play that.

#2 - ADVERTISE! again, their are probably millions of peeople who have a gaming youtube channel. Why would I find yours? Post your videos are forums related to your game, or even subreddits. I spend 50% of my youtube time advertising, 40% editing and 10% actually playing games.

#3 - Be consistant and don't quit! Ive known so many people to start out a Youtube channel and arent happy that they arent famous yet.. It wont happen over night, it wont happen in a month and maybe not even in a year or 2. The longer you make videos the better you will get as well. If i compare my first video with my latest, its a black and white difference.. If i compare a video from 2 months ago, ive even improved since then.

#4, TITLES! Now I wont go in depth on SEO but one thing I see done wrong alot is the title. I see so many generic titles like " Let's Play Minecraft Part 1 " their are litereally 10-100 thousand videos with the exact same title. Put key words in the title that people will be searching for. EXAMPLE

Minecraft - Let's Play Gameplay // Part 1 - Building A House

Now again, Minecraft is a HORRIBLE example for titles because their are already so many videos that it is impossible to be found, even with the best titles, tags, etc. But if that wasnt the case anyone searcing "minecraft gameplay" or "minecraft let's play" or "minecraft house" or "minecraft building house" etc will be found. AGAIN this is pointless with games like Minecraft, Cod, Gmod etc. BUT if you apply these title tips to a newer game, you'll be amazed.

#5, Lastly, have the right attitude. Never start a youtube channel so you can make money, it takes a very long time and hard work for Youtube to be a job. I'm not anywhere near that point yet. MY attitude is " I enjoy making videos and talking to my subscribers who I consider my friends. If one day I make enough money for this to be my job, I could support my family by doing something I enjoy. " not " i wanna be rich & play video games all day "
