2.2e adds a rate balancing system to prevent slowdown (which used to happen if one computer was unable to process the game at 60 fps).

Even if you did not run into noticeable slowdown, this update should still improve the responsiveness of netplay to player inputs.

I've written in the final patches for the urgent bugs (things like pause menu getting stuck, etc.).

Among these patches, player 2 is not allowed to pause the game anymore, because this often resulted in input lock. While there is probably a fix that wouldn't require this route, such a fix would very likely bring in new forms of desync.

One-bullet shotgun is still a thing, and I cannot give an ETA on a patch for that, but I'd like to shift my focus away from netplay and to other features such as level editing.

That said, bug reports are still appreciated and any urgent bugs will be fixed.

2.1e fixes most of the bugs you have probably encountered.

- Fixed potential desync with particle effects on ice caves
- Mummies shoot flies correctly
- Deathmatch AI works correctly, among other deathmatch things
- Crates drop random items, not just ropes
- Pots drop random items, not just spiders and sometimes snakes
- Torches and other particle effects are (more) properly animated
- Altars are now random
- Roulette game is now random
- Olmec is no longer a push-over (spawns enemies)
- Fixed (really) rare yama / olmec / temple crashes.
- Internal optimizations to significantly decrease slowdown on some platforms
- *Most things involving RNG

...but there's one bug remaining.
Pistol (one-bullet) shotguns, of course. This one is somewhat complicated, so it's going to be a bit before it's fixed.

Also, 2.1e should be very stable in terms of desync. I tested some sashavol seeds for an extended period of time and ran into no desync. http://i.imgur.com/b8PXrRW.jpg

As of Frozlunky 2.1a save files will no longer require replacement.

You may start netplay sessions without any pre-configuration and Frozlunky will automatically load in the proper save file, as well as transfer your keyboard configuration. Xbox 360 controllers are limited to the default control set due to Spelunky internals. You can get around this limitation by using software such as Joy2Key and mapping your controller to keyboard.

Additionally, your main Spelunky save will no longer be affected either, and all Frozlunky derivations of a particular save file will be stored in "frzlunky_save.sav"

Since this is a relatively drastic change there may be issues on certain platforms, if you run into such issues please report them here!

I'm happy to announce 2.0f as a netplay milestone. The immediate serious bugs reported here have been fixed, among other issues I found that plagued the netplay experience as well.

Complete Changelog from 2.0a - 2.0f (in chronological order):
- Implemented buffer equilibrium to stabilize input latency between client and host
- Fixed misordered packet desync
- Fixed players being unable to use both a controller and keyboard across netplay.
- Fixed pot and chest desyncs.
- Fixed non-inverted running issues (issue resulted in long-jump requiring a walking start, could not long-jump while running)
- Fixed occasional crashes in the temple due to lava particles overflowing.
- Eliminated desync associated with Olmec and Yama
