Anyone know of a way to run mods without disabling achievements?
Let me just do a quick backstory about me...
I changed all the music in afterbirth to the vanilla music (Pure Classic Music Mod). The last update to afterbirth+ made it so that the program only pulls from the game files (*.a). So I tried to get around this by making a basic mod, where changed the music.xml and used the vanilla music. Now, I can't get any achievements.

So, does anyone know how to keep achievements OR know how to convert files from *.a to a file, and back? (I already about Rick's upacker, but that's a one way system)

Here's the workaround.

1) Backup mods from your resources folder if you have any.
2) Use the game files extractor from "tools" (Rick's unpacker isn't needed anymore). All files will be in resources.
3) Rename the "packed" folder to anything.
4) Edit the extracted game files as you like (or put your modded files in resources, deleting the extracted originals).
5) Do not competely delete any extracted file (edits are fine), all must exist.

Now, the game won't find any packed files and will run the extracted one (so if there are some missing, the game might crash), including your modded ones. Achievements aren't disabled this way, however you won't be able to install LUA mods with this method (but it's irrelevant for music or gfx mods).

Doesn't really work. Crash logs just says that it couldn't run a file even though it was there, Any solutions?

By any chance, can you link to a download for your game files? I can't live without the classic music :'(

I messed with some files, and it still crashes. Crash logs basically can't find any files, so I'm really unsure of what to do. What do you think?

Could you link the mod you're trying to install? I'll try on my side.

All it is is changing the music.xml and the sound files.

Well, that's the explanation. The mod is designed for Afterbirth, not Afterbirth+.
The modded music.xml file wasn't made from the Afterbirth+ version, so it isn't compatible with Afterbirth+ at all (missing lines) and therefore crashes the game.

To fix it, you'll have to add yourself the few missing lines to the modded file. Open the .xml file with a text editor, and add this between the line with id 101 and </music> (at the end of the file):
<track id="102" name="Void" path="Void.ogg" loop="true" /> <track id="103" name="Boss (Void)" path="Fight Ogg/Delirium Fight.ogg" loop="true" />
This should fix it.
