That's right...we've been gone for a bit....a hiatus if you will. We shut the server down last December, however, it will be resurrected tonight. I am still polishing things up, troubleshooting broken plug-ins, etc, but I am close to being done. If you've uninstalled TF2, REINSTALL IT NAO!!! Tonight - it happens again. Yes.....our first Drunk Admin Night of 2017!!!

As Skies stated in an event (in case you missed it):
"Smack and I have had a very eventful year, but now that we've moved and life has calmed down, we're ready to make a return, not just in TF2, but other games, and other platforms. First we'd like to get our TF2 Server #1 back up, but in order to do that we just need 4 people to pledge $5 a month, and then Smack and I can cover the rest. I hope you all are just as excited as I am about our return, I know that together we can make this thing happen again.

So, Lope (one of the CF admins) is feeling generous for his one year anniversary of his current employment. He has made a post in the CF forums.....and at Midnight tonight (12am EST) -- he will post about what you need to do to win your copy. First come, first served......apparently the first people to do what he asks will be the people to win. And as it stands (unless something has changed), he will be giving away THREE (3) copies of Battlefield 1:

Thank you for your patience. The forum upgrade is nearly 100% complete. We have moved from Invision Power Board 3.4 to version 4.0 and have put in place a new theme for the site. Skies is currently in the process of making further modifications to it, so expect some minor changes in the next few days (i.e. colors, images, icons, etc).

There are some minor enhancements to the forums - one of which is a new "Like" feature, similar to the "Like" feature on Facebook. Also in the near future, I (Smack) will be working on making a "front page" to the site so that the forums aren't the first things you see when you access critfest.com. I know, it's a long time coming but hopefully it will be a reality soon! ;) Also, some forum areas have been revamped and optimized and been added to. Go to the forums and let us know what you think!

NOTE: If you've not signed into the site for a while, there is a small change where you can either use your display name or your email to log in. Keep in mind, if you use "images" or "alt symbols" in your display name, you will need to use that to log in now. If you have problems, use your email address and if that fails, contact myself or Skies and we'll get it resolved for you as quickly as we can!

If you haven't signed up for the website, now's the time to do so! The more people we have active, the more alive the forums are! Even though I hadn't played a second of the previous GTA games, after getting gifted the game (Thank you so much Kyle!) -- I bought it for Skies and here we are...playing GTA 5 for the PC. If you can get it, do....this game is worth every cent! Although Skies' video card isn't supported (NVidia GTX 275), it runs and is pretty smooth as well!

We do not use the in-game VOIP...so download and run mumble to join us for voice chat during the times we play (info below). We've already reconnected with some CF people who played TF2 with us in the past so that has been cool as well! (nice to see Kake, Rapter200, Leeroy, Wook, Priori, tbg10101, mugilicious, fuji and wallydrag!!! I didn't intentially leave anyone out -- these were just people who may have drifted away due to inactivity)

CritFest got it's stardom in Team Fortress 2, it's been the cornerstone of our community for the past 6 years, however, like many things within this world, things evolve, and it's only natural that they do so. CritFest is branching out into other games, like Warface, and most recently Battlefield 4, starting on the 22nd of this month CritFest's TF2 servers will be going down in the pursuit of other goals and other games. If we get $100 in donations by the 22nd, we will keep the servers up for another month, however, after which they will be going down. We will be getting rid of our dedicated Linux box, however, in the future we may rent 1 server, to host our Server #1 on if the demand is there. This does not mean that CritFest will be closing their doors, on the contrary, we're just putting away TF2, and extending our reach, the website, steam group, facebook group and mumble will remain up and active.

We're sorry if this news comes as a shock, but I don't think that many of you will be surprised, CritFest's interest in TF2 has been waning for quite some time now, many members have already moved on to other games, and we feel it's time we do the same. We've had some great times in TF2, and I'm sure we will in the future, but our declining interest in the game can no longer justify spending $150/mo on servers we don't feel like using. We'd like to thank all of our fans, members and supporters, without all of you we couldn't have made it as far as we have, and we will continue on into the future, growing, evolving and having a blast as we've always have.

We'd also like to know the games that you're currently interested in playing, and if you have Battlefield 4 or would like to have it. Let us know in the comments (preferrably in the forum link: http://www.critfest.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8454-a-new-year-a-new-era/)
