It's the beginning of a new era for Legitmine - we've officially transferred ownership. I've gone ahead and paid for the first three months of the new server and VPS - any donations are welcome in the future (details to come!). Roles on the server, including mine, are unchanged.

In the meantime, our forums at legitmine.net are back up and running - because of the loss of our data through AvanteHosting, it's a fresh site but with the same layout. Members will need to sign up for a new account.

Secondly, the server is currently not open. It was shut down two days ago due to nonpayment, and we have started it back up under a new account but have not gotten ahold of the old map to upload in. If we continue to be unable to get the old map, we'll have to push forward with a new map, which will take time. On the bright side, we've upgraded the capacity of the new server, which will help lag and hold more players at once.

Thanks to all for your patience, we hope to be back at full capacity shortly!

The Past, Present, and Future of Legitmine

As of recently, there is no better word to describe the community other than "dying". The server itself is the only standing piece currently. This has not been advertised due to the lack of moderation and tools. The databases which were critical to anti-grief are not accessable.

Which is the main reason for the sudden disappearance. The server host, AvanteHosting, hosted our server box which ran all websites, databases and other services. Their servers went down for "moving". This is an understatement. The servers were seen for only a short time until they went down again, not to be seen again.

Minecraft was on a seperate box.

AvanteHosting has still not been able to provide any sort of support. We have not had access to any backups, nor have the servers themselves been accessable for what may now be months. The LogBlock database was one of many stored on this server.

I have personally not had motivation to do the massive overhaul and fixes needed to revive the community and server, as I have not had the motivation to play the game. I do, however wish to see the community survive if there others who wish the same.

One of the main complications with the situation that has prevented me from doing anything is the website and forums. These were hosted on the serverbox and we have no way of accessing these. It is not possible to restore the website to what it was. I have waited for the host to provide some sort of access, and they have promised this many times over. They will not, in the end, provide us with this; the website is gone.

To resolve these events, some things must happen.

We must drop the previous serverbox and assume that the previous data will not be recovered, designing around this idea of some things being a fresh start.

We must establish a new serverbox at a trustworthy company. We must start a website and push it forward. No second thoughts. If the previous server backups ever are returned to us we may or may not restore the old website.

We must recreate an active playerbase and moderation crew.

The community can survive and these things can be done if there is any interest at all.

My memories of Legitmine prove it to be a loyal and amazing community, making the server what it is. I do believe this can be done.

R.I.P Legitmine. Gone but never forgotten. I still have this video of my old death star (https://youtu.be/jYZOZ0WR4FY) . Oh how I wish I could go back to those days, when I wish just a freshman in high school, when life was simple.
