Tekkit related (Copypasta from Jester's announcement. )
Greetings again.

I would have posted this in our forums, but since the website is currently set up about as well as 4Chan and about as useful when it comes to hyperlinks, I am making this post here on the steam group.

It seems that the boys and girls over at http://www.technicpack.net/ have created something fairly interesting: New Flavors of Tekkit.

As it stands, we are running the old 3.1.2 version of Tekkit, or what has come to be called "Tekkit Classic." This version of Tekkit uses an older version of Minecraft, version 1.2.5 which is severely outdated.

As of January 4th a new shiny version has been released: http://www.technicpack.net/tekkit-lite/

This version has an upgraded version of Minecraft to 1.4.6 so it brings out the newer features of vanilla Minecraft including tripwires, potatos, carrots and all the fancy shit that comes with it.

That being said, this comes with an interesting situation. Most of the Equivalent Exchange things are gone as we know them. Those include condensers, collectors, red matter and a few other items. So with those having been removed several folks items/machined/houses are going to break and no longer be complete.

There is also an added issue with linking the old Vanilla world that we had to the Tekkit world, as the mods to do so are not being supported by Tekkit Lite due to it being a non-Bukkit platform.

So...this pretty much means the following:

1. The Vanilla world will be excised from the Minecraft Server. I'm thinking we can still keep that world, but just put it in plain old vanilla package and let it run for folks who want that.

2. The Tekkit world can be upgraded to the newer mods, and changed out to Tekkit Lite but it will break shit severely to do so. Also, after having attempted to upgrade once already to Tekkit Classic 3.1.3 and it failing miserably due to items already placed in the world it may just fall on its face and be unuseable. An upgrade to the world will remove several key elements of the Equivelent Exchange Mod, thus breaking factories, machines and a great many things that go along with them. (Read: Items, Armor, Equipment, etc.)

So…that pretty much means we may be able to salvage the Vanilla world of Creeper Mountain and Team Bree. The downside is that the old Tekkit world might not be salvageable to transfer to this upgraded version.

I’d like to head some input about this before I do anything, so please comment or speak with me in Mumble when I am on so I can get an idea of what should be done.
