Ultra's Class Mod
Hello all, I will be putting the entire design doc here for the mod and I will want everyone's ideas and inputs in this thread, if you also have other ideas, please let me know know or post it on the forum! Posting it on the forum is better since I am very busy, Anyways, now to the mod.

Ultra's Class Mod (to be renamed) will consist of multiple classes, this is in the brainstorming process so please give me ideas!

I am currently in the process of also designed a web based GUI for character management for rust to make it much easier than having dozens of commands to remember, if you know any web developers, please let me know!!!

Class Ideas
  • Each class can be leveled, upon leveling, you gain a skill point that can be put in numerous skills that are both general and class specific.
  • Focus on Post Apoc. environment or RPG like environment? Think super speed, fast bow shooting, etc.
  • Each level gained also gives you a skill point in your general skills that increase your stats despite what class you are; think general skills then class skills.
    Skills

Classes Implemented
  • Hunter (Completed )
    • Passives: +15 Damage with the bow, 50% extra XP at night. for a total of 250%.
    • Active: /ChargedShot - Increases your next arrow damage by 35/45/55
    • Active: /HealingHerbs - Regenerates 3/5/7 HP Per Second for 7 seconds
    • Active /Sprint - Increases Run Speed by 100%

      • Prestige Class: Shadow Hunter ( 70% Complete )
        • Passive: +30 Damage with bows
        • Passive: 100% Bonus XP At Night
        • Passive: Increased Dodge Chance 15%
        • Active: /shadowarrow : If this arrow strikes an enemy, it will turn you invisible for 2 seconds while increasing your movespeed by 100% [TO DO] -- Using invis admin armor for two seconds then switching to previous armor equiped.

  • Paladin ( Complete )
    • Passives: +10 to Defense and + 20 to Shield
    • Active: /Holylight - Heals 40/55/70 HP
    • Active: /Holyshield - Applies a 25/30/35 Shield

  • Professions
    • Mining ( to code )
      • Increases Metal and Sulfur Ore gained by 25/35/45/55/70% based on Profession level
    • Hunting ( to code )
      • Increases Leather, Cloth, and Chicken gained 25/35/45/55/70% based on Profession Level

    This will be a work in progress and this servers first custom coded mod, even though I have personally done several bug fixes and workarounds along with fixing exploits. Cheers!

This will be a very nice addition to our server! I just made a new post that people can add their ideas about mods! It is pinned in this section (Rust Related), called Plug-In Suggestions!

Seems like we'd need your powerful server you're getting to run a mod like this w/o lag :)

Anyways -- class ideas:
Your typical classes: Priest (Shoot bullets @ teamates and heal them)
Recon - Similar to hunter, but with SMG/Pistols/Shotty ability to blend in with environment? Low HP specialize in supressors (No reduced dmg+range)
Balance - mediocre @ every classes passive stats: Assigned before picking a specific class
Tank - Low Damage, High HP / Shields
Soldier - Profficient w/ M4 and has low hp, but high shield levels.

Sub-Classes:
Scavenger - similar to current looter, more loot from crates, dorito animal loot
Crafter - Good at crafting weapons - Chance to make extra gunpowder, planks , w/e when crafting
Collector - Get extra supplies when collecting nodes
Farmer - TBD since we don't know yet how it works. I figure faster planting times and less water needed etc.

Just my input for experience in MMORPG's

So from what I took from this / Ideas that I got

  • Prestige Classes
  • Professions --- Like what you stated, almost another class, like Scavanger.

Unfortunately I am unable to edit alpha of the Controllers(NPC's) as it is client sided and I do not have functionality for that. I am torn between going Post. Apoc. classes or RPG style classes. Ideas?

What would be the difference between said Class genres? Just their abilities? I would go with what would make us more different, be it RPG or Post. Apoc. Though I think a long-term vote would be at-hand for that sort of a decision.

Well the issue is creating a 3rd party application to interact with Rust. it would work well if all players downloaded it and selected their class and chose their keybinds.

A post apoc class plugin would probably more feasible than an RPG one because you can get away with having a lot more passives.

I know of a program that communicates as an individual launcher for their own game, it's a mod for Arma 2 called City life, if you want I can get you a copy and you can extract it and look through the files and see how it works. It acts just as you said before, a 3rd party app that communicates with the server that can change keybinds, setting and other such things.
