Yes, you can get some positive buffs against it, and I have not had the chance to test it in HOI 4. I would think however, that level 5 forts behind a river would be pretty nasty to assault.

Very interesting. In HOI III it is easy for Germany to get past the fortress line. With the right micromanaging Germany can even get a positive adjustment of 120% attack force when attacking forts in HOI III.

I have not looked at this in detail in HOI IV yet. But it's not possible to copy the HOI III method at least.
Vs the AI my Germany test run did not have much difficulty getting into France but I did not look at the fortresses much.

If you believe we need a rule I would agree.

this has to do with exp in HOI3 that Allies would mass troops in France way past what would be normal. Sure we should maybe edit the rule to "Until France has fallen only the UK can send non-volunteer troops to mainland Europe".

Also note that any long fight before France falls in this part of the game can only tell us that that game is messed up seriously.

To play France in this game is a very demanding task.
Success would be to destroy a panzer division or two, weaken the Luftwaffe or cost Germany comparably much in manpower or equipment.

I would suggest a close cooperation between UK and France so that the player of France can join UK as a prepared and active COOP, or if Canada is open that could be a good alternative after France falls. USA should support a good ex-France player with huge amounts of Lend Lease.

I´ve just read in the thread on Paradox Forum about the expected role of minor nations. As I would like to see a game where minor nations can also play a significant role after war broke out and I also like to develop a nation especially create different divisions types, planes or tanks etc for myself it`s not so much fun for me to switch as a coop to a major nation in HOI4 after war broke out. Imo the new battleplan, sea- and air warfare system should make it possible to handle most major nations alone. As I want to avoid a situation in the game where players expect from me to switch to a major nation as coop I withdraw from the game now. Thx for the invitation. Have a great game.

I think we should ban democratic nations from “Revoke Guarantee” as it increases World Tension.
