For a user-driven Deathmatch!

This is a group created to aid in the distribution and popularization of Half Life 2 Deathmatch: Orange Box, a clone of Half Life 2: Deathmatch written as a Source2007 mod. The mod was written by Sub-Zero to address certain bugs in the original game, but now it also exists to give someone other than Valve the role of maintainer!

Spawn with grenades! Restrafe during bunnyhops! Speedcrawl! Bring back oldschool DM!

Step 1.
Get the source SDK base 2007, it is your Steam library under tools.

Step 2.
Get this ♥♥♥♥ and extract it to your sourcemods (Steam\steamapps\sourcemods) folder:

Step 3.
Get a bunch of really sexy ♥♥♥♥ that newguy put together; Only thing I made was the mag model (not the HD skin pulled over it), and it also has a bunch of custom sounds I made sexier in Audacity and made compatible on all new source engine versions.

Also extract this to sourcemods; you can also use it in any hl2 source game, but then u'd have to extract it someplace else then copy:/:pasta the contents to a hl2mp, ep2, etc.
Makes the games 1000x aesthetically better. Big time.
The hand models are BM:S's with a new cubemap I threw on that makes it look all DirecX11-like.

Step 4.

Step 5.
If you don't have 7zip or winrar, get 7zip @ www.7zip.org ; it is free and better than winrar.
Also, be sure to restart steam before trying to launch the mod after extracting it to sourcemods.

Step 6.
Profit.

Be advised: although this combo is by far the best version of hl2dm, it is still hl2dm.

You DON'T HAVE TO REDOWNLOAD ALL YOUR MAPS.

There's a way around that. For the love of peace, read the installation instructions. More precisely:

Vista/7 users, you delete the maps folder in OB, then you press Win+R, type in cmd, press enter, type in mklink /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\hl2mpob\maps" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\<steam username>\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps", press enter, and you're DONE.

XP users, first install the Windows 2003 Resource Kit Tools (tiny download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?DisplayLang=en&FamilyID=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd), then delete the maps folder in OB, then press Win+R, type in cmd, press enter, type in linkd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\sourcemods\hl2mpob\maps" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\<steam username>\half-life 2 deathmatch\hl2mp\maps", press enter, and you're DONE.

Yes, the command line supports copy+paste. Right click on the titlebar for options. Obviously, replace <steam username> above with your actual steam username.

The result is that the OB maps folder and the HL2DM maps folder become one.

yeah i think if someone actually gets the server running properly in linux, just upload the entire installation (without the maps obviously), cant get it installed properly. grr
