Just looking at the most played games list to the right, Team Fortress 2 is quite a popular game. Would anyone be interested in all getting on a server to have a few rounds? For those who haven't got it and are interested, the game is now free. And a warning, I am atrocious at it :P

As Steven mentioned, "we cant learn about games without playing them". Alot of us seem to own the same games and such we should organize a game night

The Hittites were a Bronze Age people of Anatolia. They established a kingdom centered at Hattusa in north-central Anatolia ca. the 18th century BC. The Hittite empire reached its height ca. the 14th century BC, encompassing a large part of Anatolia, north-western Syria about as far south as the mouth of the Litani River (in present-day Lebanon), and eastward into upper Mesopotamia. The Hittite military made successful use of chariots,[1] By the mid 14th century BC (under king Suppiluliuma I) carving out an empire that included most of Asia Minor as well as parts of the northern Levant and Upper Mesopotamia. After ca. 1180 BC, the empire disintegrated into several independent "Neo-Hittite" city-states, some surviving until the 8th century BC.

Couple of guys on the Atomic forums are gonna be having a few races here and there for fun using rFactor. It'll be using the Bathurst Legends cars (69 and possibly 72), on Bathurst for now. Hopefully, Longford will be used. A competition may also be started later on down the track, if there are enough numbers, or just a monthly/fort nightly game

We now have a news page related to the Longford track on our web site. No video of the VisionSpace being used at the moment, as I haven't had a chance to encode it, but there are some fairly high quality screen captures of the track available now.

The historical angle is really valuable for us in Tasmania. Lots of interest in local history here. Let me know how you go with the track building software. :)
Nobody813 28 Oct, 2010 @ 3:18pm
Just a thought, a Targa Tasmania mod would be nice, but would take quite a while to make. Also, I like the idea of driving around older tracks/roads. This concept could be taken further. I'll be trying to get Bob's Track Builder (or a cheaper/free alternative) to make some concept tracks in the holidays
Sanktum 23 Oct, 2010 @ 11:49pm
It would be pretty cool if we could have some kind of informal competition within the HITLab. No promises for now, but I'm certainly thinking about it. :)
Nobody813 22 Oct, 2010 @ 7:39pm
Yeah, true. Who's it'd be great to compare how fast Jack Brabham, the rFactor AI, and ourselves do it. I know myself that it's insanely hard too really go for it, and get faster tiems in the much faster Porsche. Will there be a HITLab Gran Prix? :P
Sanktum 22 Oct, 2010 @ 7:03pm
Thanks for the link. That's a really great video. Might look into embedding something like that on the HITLab site next to a video of the rFactor replica. Would give a good sense of how impressive the rFactor track is.
Nobody813 22 Oct, 2010 @ 5:42pm
Can't wait to give it another spin :)
Nobody813 22 Oct, 2010 @ 12:18am
The link below is off the 1964 race of the Tasman Series at Longford

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAbR9jxrnVQ&feature=related

It includes the cars used in the Vintage F1 Mod
Sanktum 20 Oct, 2010 @ 5:03pm
The game is rFactor (http://www.rfactor.net/) . It was originally developed in 2005, so it's fairly old now, but it has a really active modding community. The two mods we were running the video were classic racing (60s and 70s) and formula one themed respectively. The classic racing video is on a track that was made by one of the HITLab students as a hobby project. It's a replica of an old track at Longford.
Nobody813 20 Oct, 2010 @ 4:58am
Wow, that was awesome

I want a go!!! :)

Oh, what game was it?
Sanktum 19 Oct, 2010 @ 5:48am
Couple of videos of rfactor running the VisionSpace:

Links won't be live forever but I'll post more videos on the HITLab web site later and link those. If any of you guys are interested in having a go let me know and we'll organise a time.

Do we get cake? Or is that a lie :(

Looking forward to next semester... More HITLab units

Thanks for joining the group guys. Feel free to pass an invitation on to any HITLab/CIS/UTAS people you'd like to invite. I'm hoping that this will be come a relatively active little community, but we'll see how things go!

I'll idle in the group chat room when I'm logged in to steam, so if you want to catch up with me at all, feel free to drop in.
