I’m not going to pretend that I know very much about the various societal subsets that permeate the youth of today. I have trouble recognizing one clique from another, whereas its individual members would attest to being polar opposites. Hipsters, elitists, college students, mallrats… they all look the same to me. What I do know is zoology, and on that level, I commiserate with the Elitist Aardvark. To be the only living species in your biological order must be enough to warrant a cool flick of the hair, a Kirsten Stewart-esque exhale, and a quip like: “You’ve probably never heard of Tubulidentata, anyway.”

I can understand that. I can dig it. That’s why An Elitist Aardvark has been gifted the only item befitting of his title (besides an ironic t-shirt, but I couldn’t find any of those) : the Fast Learner.

Let’s all congratulate An Elitist Aardvark for being hat’s TF2’s player of the week this week. Or don’t. Whatever. Psh.

Dusty Rhodes is an example of the American Dream. So is the Statue of Liberty. But the hat’s TF2 dream doesn’t involve picket fences or dental plans in any regard. What I wanted to achieve when I started hat’s TF2 was to provide a friendly, vanilla environment for new players—an alternative to the dm_mariokarts and the 24/7 instaspawn allcrit 2fort servers. An extension to that is having these new players get hooked on TF the same way I did, and the ultimate realization of this would be a post-uber-update player upgrading to premium.

joe.passmore is the personification of this dream. When he first connected to hat’s TF2 server, he had less than 20 hours under his belt. And today, he learned how to rocket jump. Being the first new player that I have successfully coaxed into firing a rocket at his feet, I have decided to make joe.passmore the Player of this Week, and his prize shall be the coveted Team Captain.

By popular demand, Gullywash has been added to the rotation for hat's TF2 server.

We are also now giving away an invitation to the Counter Strike: Global Offensive beta as an additional prize to the replay competition. Don't be afraid of entering your replay; you might just win!
On that note, I've decided to extend the deadline for the competition, as I've received a lot of complaints about replays being corrupted (and experienced the phenomenon myself). The 31st of March is the new deadline.
