Poems about Half-Life mods
Some poems I wrote about Half-Life mods in Jan and Feb 2024.

Battlegrounds
Few players
When few players are on, it seems like folley, to stand in a line, and fire only in volley. But no need to disconnect, the balancing is fun. A bayonet, vs a one shot gun.

Line up
Here's our musketeer corps, armed with a point six eight bore, forming a line once more. Another battle, in the Revolutionary War.

Brainbread
Boss battle
That one zombie in Brainbread, shot repeatedly in the head, he's still not dead, it's the boss named Fred.

Go for the marines
Points we collected, while teammates protected, don't let zombies bite, you'll get infected.

Counter-Strike
Banned items
The Counter-Strike crowd, has always been loud, saying on many servers: the AWP is not allowed.

Bomb carrier
Counter-Strike, the most popular mod, thousands of servers, even more than DoD, stop throwing the bomb to me, I hate my squad.

Imitation
1.6 better than Source, you can put a gun to my head, but I cannot be forced - I'd rather be dead, than play Counter-Strike: Source.

Kick limit four
There you go again, breaking your promises, can you please, stop shooting the hostages.

Day of Defeat
Memorable maps
From dod_flash, to dod_charlie, the maps of dod, were all pretty gnarly.

Realistic rifles
It's always a thrill, in a game of skill, where many of the guns, are a one-hit-kill.

Digital Paintball
A neglected genre
Digital Paintball, a mod that deserved fame, decades of a genre, still no better game, few titles came close, what squid is to blame? the scene deserved more, the neglect was a shame.

Speedball
Behind the inflatables they hunkered, so sneaking low I wandered, to reach them and yell "bunkered!"

Still better than airsoft
Digital Paintball, the original toxic scene, splatted with paint, no player was clean, not that paintballers need an excuse to be mean.

Natural Selection
Don't feed
Marines march towards the hive, but the aliens thrive, we accidentally fed them kills, now we're just trying to survive.

Modes
Either class or combat, both modes were fun, we'd play either way, until the match was done.

Ricochet
Ricochet haiku
It's always a risk, jumping platform to platform, while dodging a disc.

Team Fortress Classic
Gates open in 10 seconds
As the gates open, many screens turn black, half the server is killed, by the demoman's detpack.

Medic banter
A medic on our team goes by the name Cyrus, he doesn't do healing - he just spreads a virus.

Medic!
We need a medic in this moment of tension, someone that helps with death prevention, if you see him nearby, remember to mention: Excuse me, I'm in need of medical attention.

The Specialists
Film influence
Not always with guns, we also fight with sticks, diving around with swords, like it's the Matrix.

Gaming influence
Influence in gaming, the original gangsters, early roleplay pranksters, DarkRP and base raiding, The Specialists sparked disasters.

The Trenches
1914 - 1918
On a previous November, that few now remember, a war ended, we stoked its ember. On the servers we met, but no blood, tears, or sweat, we played in remembrance, lest we forget.

Zombie Panic!
Panic button
The survivors would glow, to the zombies that follow, better drop useless ammo, if you're running too slow.

Zombie Panic! poem
Survivors become manic, when creatures looking satanic, chase them in Zombie Panic!
