At the beginning of May I traded my Black Ops 4 Battle Edition + the Additional Content DLC for TF2 keys with someone I had seen post in the WTB section.

Today, some 3 and a half weeks later this person has contacted me asking for either a gift link for Black Ops 4 Standard Edition, or that we undo the trade.

What has happened is that Humble has replaced Battle Edition with Standard Edition in everyone's Humble profiles and those who had already previously redeemed their Battle Edition on Battle.net now have an extra copy of the game in the form of Standard Edition.

The person I traded with claims he never redeemed the game as he was keeping it for future trades and he now wants the Standard Edition from me, or to undo the trade.

Even though I think it's unfair on me - given that the rules here prohibit buying to resell and this whole issue only exists because this person intended on reselling the game instead of redeeming it himself weeks ago - I agreed to undo the trade as I might want to give BO4 a go now that zombies are included.

I would return his TF2 keys, he would give back the Additional Content and I would take the loss on the lost Battle Edition. Well it seems that he did not expect this response from me as he then didn't want to undo the trade after all, leaving me to suspect that he may have actually resold it already and is just looking to swindle me out of the other copy. I'm not the only one he's doing this to either...

At the time of the trade he got exactly what was agreed upon and if he had redeemed the game at that time or at any point in the past ~3.5 weeks there would be absolutely no issue right now. He would have his copy and I would have the extra copy.

I could have traded the game with any number of other members that were offering to buy it at the same price so why should I lose out just because the person I decided to trade with turned out to be someone dishonest who doesn't follow the rules?

The more I think about it the more I think that I don't actually owe him anything. If someone comes back after a day or even a week saying there is some issue then sure I would be liable, but when that someone turns out to be a reseller who comes back to me 3.5 weeks after the trade demanding more than what was originally agreed to I just feel like telling them to get stuffed to be honest. He took a risk, broke the rules here, and if that backfired on him well that's really not my problem!

Am I completely wrong in thinking this? Am I actually the asshole here?

update: he flipped it on steamtrades for 5 keys after paying me 3.5 keys so that explains why he doesn't want to undo the trade even though he offered that as an option. He doesn't have the Additional Content to trade back as he's already handed everything off to another reseller long ago.

I don't, but it does appear to be available in Australia since February so I'll to look into it.

edit: Tried to register through their website and it gives the following error even though the site says they are now in Australia
