What kind of scammers are there?
First of all, there are the scammers that want you to give the game up front. But it is different for a group buy. The host usually asks for the payment up front, it is normal. Check below on how to tell someone is scamming you by doing the above. Beware for impersonators! These people copy someones steam profile (nickname and avatar) and pretend they are this person. Check below on how to tell someone is scamming you by impersonating.

How to know someone is a scammer for sure:
Some simple steps you can follow to check this on SteamRep:

• Copy their steam profile link (Impersonator http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/profiles/76561198048958546 for example)
  
• Go to http://steamrep.com/
  
• Paste the steam profile link in the box where it says "STEAM ID32 / STEAM ID64 / CUSTOM URL / PAYPAL EMAIL:" and click on "Search"
  
• If it says "Scammer" in red and shows some boxes in red (like here[imgur.com]), then it is a scammer and you should avoid him and report him right here as soon as possible! (Example scammer: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198048958546)

Not listed as scammer on SteamRep.com? Follow these steps:

• Check their profile on SteamTrades[www.steamtrades.com] for any negative reputation and see what it says
  
• Check if the scammer has been reported on Group Buys yet: Clicky
  
• Check any other sites he might be active on (SourceOP[forums.sourceop.com] for example)

How to know you can (most likely) trust the person:

• Check if they are listed as scammer by following the steps above
  
• Check their reputation thread on Group Buys right here
  
• Check their reputation on SteamTrades[www.steamtrades.com] (around 15+ positive rep in the last month)
  
• Check other sites, such as SourceOP[forums.sourceop.com]
  
• Check their steam profile - Do they have a lot of games and are they a member for more than a year or so?

Couldn't find anything odd? You can (most likely!) trust this person.

Still not sure you can trust him? Ask someone else to host, someone who has hosted before.

Option 1 - The Gift option:
Gifting money via PayPal is the best way to avoid any additional fees. You can find a guide on how to gift money right here[docs.google.com]. The participant always pays the fees, unless said otherwise by the host!

Option 2 - No Gift option:
If you send money to someone in the USA, the fee is usually 0.30$ + 2.9% of the price. If you're not sure how much that is, you can use a fee calculator[paypalfeecalculator.paymentprocessing.cc]. If you preview any fees and do not want to pay them, you should CANCEL the payment and use some other method (such as Amazon Gift Cards). Do NOT continue with the payment unless you are sure that there will be no fees, or you are sure that you will be paying them on your end.

What is a group buy?
A group buy is, simply said, buying a pack (mostly 2/4-packs) and splitting the price over the amount of games included in the pack. So if it is a 4-pack, you divide the price by four. The participants pay the price for one copy (plus additional fees) via the desired payment option and get their game right after.

How do I participate in a group buy?
Just check this for the latest group buys and let the host know you are interested in joining the group buy. Can’t find the game you are looking for? Try hosting your own group buy! Check out this post on how to do that.

How do I get notified on new group buys?
That's easy, just go to Discussions and click on the grey button that says: "Subscribe to Forum." Can't find it? Check this screenshot[imgur.com] to see how it looks like. After that, you will get notified whenever there is a new group buy. A notification will look like this[imgur.com].

What do the ‘[DONE]’, ‘[# LEFT]’ and '[BUNDLE]' tags mean?
The ‘[DONE]’-tag means that a group buy has successfully concluded: the participants in the group buy got their copy. The ‘[# LEFT]’-tag simply shows how much spots/copies are left until the group buy is ‘full’. For example: if the tag says “[2 LEFT],” it means that there are 2 spots/copies left. The '[BUNDLE]'-tag means that the games in the group buy are from a certain bundle. The bundle could be something like a HumbleBundle, an IndieRoyale or an IndieGala, but could also mean a bundle on Amazon. For more info on when to use these tags, check out this post.

Does the host have to pay the pack up front?
It is not necessary for the host to buy the pack right away. You may wait and see how many people are interested in a copy so you won’t be stuck with any additional copies. You could also wait for the participants to send you the payment. Want to buy it right away? Sure, why not, if you are sure that you can sell all your copies.

Is there a list with available packs?
Yes, there is! We made a list with available packs, which you can find right over here. If you find any packs that are not on the list yet, please say so! (Your name will be added in the Credits if you do)

What payment options are there?
This really depends on the host, but most group buys use PayPal as their payment. You can find a PayPal guide right here. Besides PayPal you can also use BlueCoins (GamersGate), TF2 keys and Amazon Gift Cards for example.

How do I get the most discount on a pack?
This depends on which site you buy the pack and from which country you buy it. After checking the Steam store for any deals, you could check out these sites as well: GreenManGaming[www.greenmangaming.com], GamersGate[www.gamersgate.com] and Amazon[www.amazon.com]. These sites usually have coupons available for extra discount, something steam simply can’t offer. After finding the perfect deal over here, you have to find the best currency to pay in, which is usually USD ($). So try to find a host that pays in dollars (without taxes) and is able to use the coupons for the best deal.

How do I know I can trust the host?
You can’t ever know this for sure, you can only guess. Here are some tips on how to reduce the chance to get scammed. Note that there have not been any complaints of scammers as of now, but just be sure you are dealing with a person you can trust! Still don't trust the host? Ask someone else to host the group buy, someone who you know you can trust.
