I'd like to thank you for not doing anything for the Group Buys community the past year and then just announce this out of the blue without even telling me about it.

I've done plenty of things for the community. Always been there for anyone adding me personally, just haven't really moderated the forums due to personal things. Also haven't really felt the obligation to tell anyone about what I'm doing, especially not those that had removed me from their friends list for a long time. Feel free to contact me personally, but please stick to the topic/discussion ;).

Questions for you guys:
- A game has a certain price. Should you be able to set this price or is just mentioning it in the description enough?
- If the above is 'Setting the price', should there be different kinds of currencies (USD, EUR, TF2 keys)?
- If the above is yes, should you be able to set the price in multiple currencies (both USD and TF2 keys for example) or just stick to one currency (USD OR TF2 keys only for example)?

With the upcoming changes to the whole trading system on Steam (see links below), I thought now would be the right time to announce that I’m working on http://www.steamgroupbuys.com/. My guess is that hosting a group buy for a 4-pack for example will now become more popular, as Steam tries to remove pretty much every other method to save some money. I’ve worked on a site for Group Buys a couple of times before this, but this time I really want to finish what I started. Just remember that this is just a side project of mine, so don’t expect everything to be fully functional any time soon.

What is it all about? Well, I want to make it easier for users to start group buys and I want to make it easier for users to join these group buys. As it is right now, users have to do a lot of work to set everything up. Although we’ve tried to simplify that by providing templates and a set of rules, this is still way too much work for the lazy people among us. Wouldn’t it be way easier to just pick a pack/bundle from a list, choose which games you want from that bundle for yourself, and put it online with just a couple of clicks? Exactly! And other people could just go to your group buy and ‘claim’ those games that are left.

What’s (kind of) working right now:
- Steam login -> Register username
- A basic role system (Admins, Moderators, Members, stuff like that)
- DRMs (view/add/edit/delete)
- Games, having DRMs (view/add/edit/delete)
- Updates, as can be seen on the preview below
- Forms are being validated

What’s (probably) next:
- Adding the whole Group Buys system (already made a database for this)
- Comments
- Support system
- A forum
- A (better) layout for the website
- A whole new avatar for Group Buys
- More…

The “What’s next” part is what I need you guys for. If you have any tips/suggestions, please let me know by either leaving them here or adding me personally.

What you're talking about is trading games for other games, which is... trading. This group is all about sharing the price with others to get the games you want. We're trying to avoid trading games for games as much as possible as it's just not what this group was made for. Giving cards for game keys is allowed however, as it's an alternative payment option, similar to TF2 keys, for those that don't have PayPal or Wallet. These cards can then be sold for steam wallet for instance.

But what would be the issue of creating a separate discussion for game x game trading?

As it's 'just' trading, which this group isn't meant for. You could try SteamTrades[www.steamtrades.com] or TF2Outpost[www.tf2outpost.com] perhaps ;)

I may be wrong, but I don't think that is "disallowed" in this group (if it is, please correct me)... it's just that this group is mainly about splitting bundles and most people are willing to use PayPal or Steam Wallet to make trades (trading cards for keys would pretty much be the same thing as using Steam Wallet imo...). With so many of the same games being bundled over and over again, attempting to trade game keys for game keys in this group might not really gain much traction, unless you have ultra rare keys and you're simply interested in all the normal keys... cause trust me, almost everyone has the repeat keys. That's also why most people want you to pay with PayPal or Wallet -- they already have all the normal keys and they buy a bundle to get the couple games they don't have yet and then sell off the rest. Just my thoughts.

It's definitely disallowed. When admins/mods notice topics trying to trade keys for keys, or maybe even keys for cards, they close them and sometimes hand out temporary bans (for repeat offenders only perhaps?)

Well if you have a better group in mind, I'm all ears. No trader groups please, those are too chaotic and noisy for my taste. I just want a pure groupbuy group like groupbuys but less dictatorial pricing.

That's exactly how Group Buys started, but eventually people started complaining about other people making profit (especially the Indie Gala Group Buys, which were a lot of work back in the day), so we had to set a maximum amount of profit for group buys. Enough on this topic, though. Any comments that aren't related to this IG Back 2 School Group Buy will be ignored/deleted.

Exactly, you have to buy at least ONE bundle to get the happy hour bonus. But you're charging everyone for FIVE pre-HH bundles, which seems kinda unfair because buying five at a time was your own choice. Just keep these things in mind next time ;)

Hi there!

The way you set the price for a bundle is not how it's supposed to be. You're now telling everyone to pay some extra money for the 5-pack you bought during the first couple of hours. Buying the 5-pack was your own choice and, as we've always done in the past, you only charge for one (as you usually only buy one).

Just see it as a warning for future bundles, as it's unfair for those that have bought the bundle from you already.
