Compare list of games against library (v2)
Hi all,
I'm a game collector and I buy\sell lot of games in this group.
I always used the tool compare2steam.com (it was a great idea)
but with my library everyday bigger and bigger everyday, sometime it doesn't work, or it's so slow just to load my games list.

So I decided to write a similar tool, and I've just put it online here: http://www.nerdchan.net/steamcompare

Since all the computation is done server-side using a lot of indexes and optimized data strutctures, it's a lot faster and don't eat much memory.

The partial matching algorithm is quite good for exact words, but don't work well yet with misspellings. I'm working on it.

Well, try it, and feel free to report any bug or suggestion to improve it :abs_happy:

Known bugs:
- doesn't support well multiple games with same name and games with multiple appid (it show just the first one)

Fixed bugs:
- Removed the limit of 1000 rows in the games textbox

Thanks, couldn't use the tool recently coz of my low-end laptop, and constant browser crashes. Will take a look at that tool, for sure :happy_creep:

I can't say much about the accuracy of the matching algorithm, but it's significantly faster than compare2steam. I can't even load your account on compare2steam without it crashing.

Perhaps you could consider a way to include a direct link to an account. Like this: http://compare2steam.com/?steamid=76561198025455318

Hey, I use C2S quite often and can confirm that with my collection being at more than 4500 games / 2000 dlc it's always a pain to load.

I will defintley give your tool a try the next time I need to compare my library with some list.
If it works as good as C2S while being faster I would really be happy.

This is very fast - good work. Will try it in future and report.
Is there a way to add actual steam price in the list (can be added for example in the header as a tickbox - if price is not interesting for others) - I would find that helpful.

Your tool is much faster compared to Compare2Steam.

I just have one suggestion:
When using Compare2Steam I was able to move games from "Partial Matches" (by clicking on the right game) to either Owned or Unowned games to make it more clear which games I own/dont own.

Got to test it today and I can confirm it's much faster in everything it does compared to C2S.
However, I get quite a few false positives in the "Games that you don't own (exact matches)" table.

Thanks everybody for testing :)

The problem with prices is that they can change everyday with deals, so I've to update all games at least once a day...

I'll try to add this too, thanks

Can you please send me the titles of those games?
I think it's because some games have two entries on steam DB with same title (for examble two different appid for two regions)...

Wow nice work! I had the same problem as you a while back and your tool would have been extremely handy. Groupees used to allow you to check how many games an account owned that were in a bundle. IE if I have 3 total games, Metro 2033, Running With Rifles, and Civilization V and 2 games were in a bundle of 5, it'd say "Katy Perry owns 2/5 games."

We used a method where you found a profile with all 5/5 games then compared them to profiles with no games. Since we knew this was our total bank we just started excluding from there. When we figured out some of the games, we were able to treat profiles with only known games as excludes. It usually quickly got narrowed down to 100-200 possibilities within 4 or 5 profiles.

Eventually we got stumped on some obscure as fuck indie title that had never been bundled. We then started googling profiles with highest game counts and found some dude that probably owned 85% of everything on Steam. After that, we kind of broke the system with efficiency. The admins kept it around 4-6 bundles after, but we'd solve everything in a few hours and defeated the purpose of preorders.

Me and another dude treated it as a game and had more fun with figuring out what was in the bundle than actually solving. Kind of miss doing it, but I can see why they'd remove the feature after preorders were rekt for almost a month. I haven't seen it since, but it's possible it's still there.

Unfortunately I can't find the game's list that I compared my library with anymore. However, I did 2 other comparisons with 2 other lists and those didn't have any false positives.

I just got a false positive in the Not Owned Games (Exact Match) category for
