Drop outs
Hi there,

since this happened the second third time i was asking myself: How to deal with ppl that reserve a spot in your group buy thread and then - sometime later - delete their post without leaving a message? (one did it after my friend request wasn't accepted and i posted the info (short: bundle ready) on his profile after the bundle was bought several days ago (an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ behavior in my opinion))

I've no problem if someone changes his mind some hours later, but i should get a chance to notice that and free the spot for someone else. What is the problem in quoting your own post and writing that you want to be removed?

I blocked these users now, but this will not prevent them from doing the same to other hosts.

Name and shame? Mods can see deleted posts, so there's clear evidence.

Deleting your posts instead of dropping out cleanly is rude and should definitely be avoided; the reason could be that some people might dislike those who drop out and those who do this think they're dodging the bad reputation, so to say.

TL;DR Use a blacklist for people who don't follow the rules.

Well calling out is usually a topic that is not allowed. however i did not find anything in the rules/faq regarding something like that. So i decided to create this topic instead of calling out and probably get a ban for this.

//

As already mentioned: i blocked these ppl - so i can't see them trying to reserve a spot. Point of this thread was: How to (beside myself) protect other ppl from the black sheeps.

Well I'm not sure what you understand as tg dr but I just said "Too long didn't read" because most likely people won't understand it anyway.

You can use Google Translate but we all know how good it is.

I meant "Too German, Didn't Read". I was joking, nevermind. But you should probably post in English.

Well the thread creator speaks german and the only important thing is
"Use a blacklist for people who don't follow the rules."

While it is an asshole thing to drop out without saying so, you on the other hand is on the blacklist as a host for droping participants without trying to contact them in any way, which for me is as big red flag

Just report the person to a mod

You're responsible when you claim a game in a given thread. If you back out without informing the host or never show up for a reservation, expect at the very least a temp-ban.
If you back out of a group buy without notice, there might be consequences.

Well there's not really much you can do other than using the steam blocking feature.
Since I write every user a message regarding HH and that I'm awaiting payment I usually also get a reaction if someone drops out. Depending on the reasons and the "tone" of the conversation I decide if that user will be added to the blacklist or not. And if I'm really pissed I send a screenshot of the conversation to a mod who's on my friendslist and get that user banned. Right now, there're 30 people on my blacklist. About 2 thirds are from this group and the other third is from barter. 2 of those users have been reported and banned from this group.

Is there any way to disallow post deletion?
PrinzVonBillAir 2 Sep, 2016 @ 2:44am
No

That's quite a collection you've got there.

I took the given advice and added a mod to discuss the happenings.
