Ideas/my proposal for the 2017 GASR Summer Series
Hey everyone,

As many of you know, I like to host a GAS Summer Series around this time every year. With dougdi's Beginner Series ending this Sunday (which has been going great!), I thought I'd get a head start and post what I'm thinking about doing for the 2017 GASR Summer Series.

My plan (so far)
  • Start either July 23rd or July 30th
  • Similar to the last series, there will be teams. However, this time there will be 3 main teams (Red, Green, Blue or other colors)
  • Each team will be spearheaded (lead) by an admin (for example - DaBeastKing is Red leader/captain, dougdi is Green leader, etc.)
  • There will be 6 events total, one every Sunday
  • I'm thinking of doing one discipline per Sunday (example - one event is all Street, the next is all Touring, etc.)
  • Since there are 6 events and 3 admins, each admin can host 2 events. They pick the cars/tracks they want to do for those 2 events
  • I can be in charge of the points sheet again
  • Beginner/Intermediate level focused
  • Random start grid, 3 flashbacks, no tunings or upgrades

This means we need one more admin to help us out. I will be contacting some individuals over the next few days to discuss this.

If anyone wants to suggest or post an idea, comment it below!

I truly believe if we combine our efforts together, we should have no problem obtaining a full lobby every weekend. There is definitely still demand for GAS!

DabeastKing, once again, moving this group promoting more fun, very thanks man! I like this idea, i was realy thinking change my team in the next event, because the cars showed diferent behavior, i'm availabel to help in the event, you can count on me. i do not know how it's going to be, but i'm in. Let's go fun!

I think no matter what, there will be 3 teams. It doesn't have to be blue, red etc. it can be anything (I just used those for examples) :steamhappy:

(I will explain as simple as I can for dougdi and others where English isn't their first language)

Alright, I have a plan.

First, we need to come to an agreement on how long we want the Summer Series to be. I'm thinking either 4 or 5 events long (4 or 5 weeks). I originally wanted 6 weeks, but that length is too long and might turn some people off.

  • If we do 5 events, we can have one discipline per event (one event all Tuner, one all Street, etc.). One admin can host event #1 and #2, another admin hosts event #3 and #4, and another hosts #5 (the finale).
  • If we do 4 events, then one admin can host event #1, another admin #2, another admin #3, and we all share the last event #4 together. It doesn't matter what disciplines we do each day.

When someone hosts an event, they are responsible for choosing and posting the cars and tracks for that event. I'm fine with doing either 4 or 5 weeks, it's up to you guys.

For Halon - dougdi and I have picked out what colors we want our teams to be, we need you to do the same. Any color you want, make a RaceNet team for it, and copy what we put for our color threads (the ones that say "Gray team signups!") and make one for yourself. It won't take more than 5 minutes :steamhappy:

There is no rush in deciding or getting the RaceNet teams finalized (I just wanted to post this now because I will be busy later on this week). I should be done with the General Information thread by the time we decide how many weeks and Halon making his RaceNet team. After this is completed, we can start posting the events. But again, there is no hurry as we have lots of time :pcarsracer: And of course, thank you guys for helping out, this will be lots of fun :D !

I like the 4 week event option but for week #4 all drivers can vote for the cars and tracks we race that week.

Last race of the event should also be the same discipline on an oval track for heart-pounding fun! For example if we do a touring car week, the last race will be touring cars at Indy.

dougdi brought up a good question - do we want to do 4 or 5 races per event? (No matter what it won't be over an hour long per event). I'm OK with either.
