GOJIRA (FRANCE)

Gojira was formed by the brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier in 1996.
The original name of the group is Godzilla, but guys had to change it for legal reasons to Gojira (which is the original name of the famous Japanese film).

The band grew up in Bayonne, a city on the southwest coast of France.
The surrounding picturesque rural landscape and the coast near the hometown inspired the group to become interested in nature and the Earth. Gojira uses her music to spread her spiritual beliefs and show environmental concerns.

The sound of French Godzilla is a chemical cocktail of thrash, death metal, progressive metal and sludge metal. Also it is impossible not to note the vocals in which low growling notes are poured into a high piercing scream, which replaces low clean vocals. As the musicians themselves say, such bands as Death, Morbid Angel, Meshuggah, Metallica, Tool, Neurosis influenced their music.
