So, we all know that I'm prone to over-zealous displays of exaggeration when it comes to how awesome the game of the month is. Sometimes. But, I feel like I've legitimately found a game worthy of my unique kind of praise. And by "I've found" I mean, "Decafon reintroduced me to a game I don't remember making an account for".

Anyway, Mortal Online. Let's discuss it for a moment. It's Free-to-play, kind of. It's free enough to try it out to see if you'll like it. I'll list some of the features I like, and you can decide whether or not this awesome MMO hybrid is something you'll like.

- Full world loot - everything that drops in the world can be looted by anyone. No instanced loot
-Player/Guild housing which includes Sheds, Houses, Towers, Keeps, and Towns that players can build themselves.
-War declaration system between guilds (similar to Eve)
-Everything on a person is dropped when they die. (Similar to Eve)
-Several hundred skills to build your character from
-100% classless system. You can build your character any way you want. You can be a legitimate horse tamer/breeder, a sword and shield warrior, a mage, an archer, you can be a trader that goes from town to town, a pirate who preys on ordinary people, a miner or forester. Pretty much anything.
-Mounted and ranged combat that is 100% user-skill based, meaning skill-shot.
-Crafting is incredibly expansive. There are a thousand different ways to make a single item, and there are hundreds of items to make.
-Skill training can be similar to Eve by buying skill books and reading them, or you can alternatively increase skills in areas by using the skill. i.e. increasing woodcutting by chopping down trees
-No levels. You don't grind to 70 and then quit playing. You are allowed a maximum of 1100 skill points in primary skills and can fluidly change them on demand. A pretty unique system.
-Single Shard like Eve

Now, I don't want to say this game doesn't have any bad parts because it does have them.

-It's a bit buggy sometimes
-small development team so some thing don't get fixed as soon as they should
-requires some independent reading if someone can't answer your question (similar to Eve)
-solo play can be a bit daunting since anyone can kill anyone pretty much anywhere. In this way it's similar to Rust. In towns, guards will kill them. Like concord.
-The world is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ huge. Can take a while to travel without a mount.
-The starting city, Tindrem, is really annoying to get around in and you want to leave it pretty much immediately after the tutorial.
-No quests. You explore, kill things, do stuff with the guild, etc. Like Eve, you make your own content. You can roam around and do PvE (skeletons, wild animals, dungeons, etc) or pillage off unsuspecting people. 100% sandbox.

The free to play portion of the game only limits you to being able to skill any primary skill to 60. Max is 100. So it will prevent you from owning a house, but that's it. It will essentially allow you to do everything else in the game, which is enough to decide whether or not you're going to enjoy the game.

So, I'd love to see FYAD get back together and show the Mortal Online server what's up. This is right up our alley. The game will be a little daunting at first, but I promise it's worth the initial discomfort. We could easily become a major player overnight if we can get 10+ people playing this.
