What is Fragapalooza?

Fragapalooza is an annual video game festival/LAN party that takes place in or near Leduc, Alberta, Canada. It is a four day summer event starting on a Thursday morning and ending Sunday afternoon. Fragapalooza is primarily a BYOC event where attendees bring their own computer and play PC or console games on our high speed Local Area Network. Fragapalooza also includes official staff run tournaments, and un-official participant run tournaments.

History

Fragapalooza started in Edmonton, Alberta in 1997 by a group of gaming enthusiasts. The first event consisted primarily of QuakeWorld and was held in an airplane hangar at the Edmonton Municipal Airport. It has since evolved into a much larger annual gathering, drawing attendees from across Canada and the United States. In November 2002, worked with Intel and Bell Canada and held an event dubbed 'Fragapalooza East'. It was held in Mississauga, Ontario which was a great experience and helped us learn a lot. In February 2009, Fragapalooza held its first winter event in Grand Prairie, Alberta and helped solidify our abilities to hold events in different cities.

We, the Fragapalooza staff and volunteers, are incredibly disappointed that we will not be able to spend 4 days running Canada’s Premiere Video Gaming Event at the Leduc Rec Centre. We will miss meeting new Fragger’s and catching up with old Fragger’s, having a blast all hours of the night with all of you in person, and you know, gaming next to each other. So rather than sitting around waiting till next year, we wanted to see if we could bring the Fragapalooza spirit to you virtually! Behold, Fragapalooza - The Digital Experience, which we hope will be that and much more from the comfort of your own home. Registration is free, our schedule is forthcoming and we anticipate that we can share more details with you very soon.

Fragapalooza - The Digital Experience wants to bring to you our community gaming experience! Put on by gamers for gamers, while still keeping you safe in accordance with Alberta medical guidelines. Our plan is to try and use as many aspects of social media and digital platforms as best we can to recreate that Fragapalooza atmosphere. A 4 Day NON-STOP Video Gaming Extravaganza Event, put on by Gamers for Gamers! It's a bring your own Computer/Console (with games) event where we provide you a venue, seat, table, network, internet and power for all your gaming needs with hundreds of other people doing the exact same thing!
