I have V1 of the other mod, but I'm hesitant to upload it because it may have been broken with a patch? If you request it and I don't respond in a while feel free to friend request me to get my attention and message me. I'll try to remember to check back.

Unfortunately, search pollution abounds for the original bilinear filter patch. The topic seems to have been deleted. I don't remember if an updated version was ever released. Was that the mod that was hosted for free in a Patreon post? I may be thinking of something else.

I DO have the archive though, at least of 1.0. I'm hesitant to share something that might not work though.

To be clear, this is NOT for the Pixel Remaster.

A real shame there's no middle ground. I think the higher resolution enemies in FFV especially are beautiful in the abandoned version. (Literally abandoned, they never even patched cloud saves to work. They only save the config.)

Very nice. I adore the new soundtrack but options are always a good thing.

The My Hands reveal made me feel like Ralphie in A Christmas Story using his decoder ring.

That's actually a pretty good question. Why keep it pinned if it's just a Patreon ad now?

The posts with the files aren't under a paywall, even if outright removing links to the relevant files is questionable.

It's not that they don't care, it's that the re-translations tend to be both more accurate and more in depth than the originals.

For some of the games the dialog was changed (and all the other text re-localized) because they were working with extreme cartridge limitations with the original localizations. One third or more of some games' scripts had to be cut out because English (and many other phonetic alphabets) take up way more space than Japanese.

In FFV's case, the PS1 localization was just awful even though they didn't have a space issue. My favorite example when it comes to really terrible mistakes with FFV:

And to be perfectly frank i think i got music that would fit the game better over the years of collecting fan remixes and aformentioned hacks. In short, i would greatly appriciate such a music selector mod.

By music selector I mean by track for the original or remake. If someone knows the file format the game uses for music adding other custom music would work though.

The modern PlayStation controller is still an iteration of the SNES design. I don't think that is a bad thing.

On topic I'm seriously considering making a music selector. Pity I don't know the file format or it would be possible to add custom tracks. The game happily accepts different music files making choosing the tracks a matter of copying the desired ones.

One thing I don't know is if the two _2 tracks in the remake directory are used in game ever.

That's still a whole lot of speculation, but yeah Nintendo was pretty bad back in the day.

Unless there is definitive evidence, I don't buy exclusivity deal theories. They tend to be stuff people just outright make up and then people start repeating it as if it's somehow "likely."

See: Final Fantasy IX, X, and XII for examples of people peddling conspiracies about alleged exclusivity deals. Despite the total lack of evidence, I still see people citing a mythical exclusivity deal to explain why Final Fantasy Tactics isn't yet available for PCs (despite the fact it's already on iOS and Android). There's nothing wrong with speculation, but it turns into people saying it's "likely" way too easily with no more evidence than a feedback loop of people repeating it.

As to Final Fantasy Adventure/Adventures of Mana having no challenge, I'd say Adventures of Mana is so incredibly faithful to the original that if someone hated the first game they probably won't like it. It's not just nostalgia for the music in my case: I actually think the music is very good. I also acknowledge it's so close to the original that may be a negative factor for some. For me when comparing it to Sword of Mana, the latter's world feels almost claustrophobic in that it abandons any illusion of freedom to travel around the world.
