FFVI: Original Sprites Project

Uh...well. I thought maybe I was just getting a string of songs not working, but after I tested a few, ALL of the music is now gone. The first one listed that didn't work was Awakening, followed by The Mines of Narshe. Apparently everything after that point too, but given that I then went back to the beginning and tried to play Prelude, hell, even exiting out altogether to walk around the cave, and nothing is playing whatsoever, I'm thinking there's a corruption somewhere in my code. Yes, I double checked the audio levels up at the top, and both sets are set to 'high'. The sound effects play just fine.

Keep in mind, this is the NOS pack right now. It comes to mind that I should probably try to replicate this with the AWR pack again and see what doesn't play there. I'm willing to bet it's going to be the same tracks. So I suppose I'm going to try that first, take notes, THEN do a fresh install of the game and mods.

Hey, thanks for the update! The manual install package has two individual patches for the music packs (NOS/AWR) maybe before doing the hard reset, try using each of those packs to see if it mitigates your problem. This is most definitely a first; even the bugged tracks from before would play every time, they just wouldn't loop because their loop points came in too late. There's gotta be some kind of corruption going on, if it were that many tracks there's no way we wouldn't have found that out in testing. The music packs have been ready since April... if the solo installers dont fix your problem, theres gotta be something more going on. Although this is also good news to an extent because we are getting closer to fixing the problem. Keep me posted!

I did all of the above up to the Audacity part...it plays the entire track, right down to the Pokemon Center jingle at the end...while I didn't hear THAT part in the game, I do have a theory. Is it possible that, instead of starting the track fresh at the start of every battle, it's picking up at one of the loop points? If so, it could be I'm just running out the length of the song and the game never starts it back up after a certain point, or after the loop point gets hit so many times, it just stops. Again, not sure, just speculation, but it seems like a programming quirk. Whether it's mod-related or Square Enix code related, I'm not sure (though given my propensity to break Final Fantasy games, I'd assume the latter...). I could still upload my copies of the music files, though, if that'd help.

I'm learning all sorts of new skills while trying to play this 24 year old game...

Edit, much later: Here's the Google Drive link to the music files, as a .7z file

If there's anything wrong with them, I can't find it. Then again, I don't really know what I'm looking for, either. I will say, though, that if one file is bad, it's likely others are too. I only noticed the problem with the battle music, but this problem could very well be bigger than that.

Hey I checked out the file and even patched it into my own installation and theres been no issues with it. The loop points are properly set. Before you installed the mod, was your main.obb fresh or were you previously using an extracted copy with the alpha release of the Sprite mod? At this point I'd try uninstalling the game, deleting its local folder and then reinstall the game and the mod to see if the issue disappears. If it doesn't I'll have to go back to the drawing board, because looking at the files both the track and the patch I can see no reason as to why this is happening...

One way you may be able to test if your installation is corrupt is to use a tent. If Terra in esper form appears on a raft instead of the character using the tent, you'll know for sure although this most likely doesn't happen every time, but did for me the only time during the creation of this mod when my installation was corrupted.

Either way, the only way it would seem that this can be potentially fixed is by uninstalling the game and deleting the final fantasy 6 folder and starting over fresh. Let me know how it goes!
