Thanks for the link. The game boots now, but I get an error message at the top of the screen telling me that there were problems loading shaders. It wants me to do something, but I can't read it fast enough to see what it wants.

They work for me after activating them in the ini file. You have to change a couple of 0s to 1s, although I can't recall which off the top of my head. The mod disables them by default.

So I downloaded the Proiject Atmaweapon mod and I installed the NOS setup. Everything went fine (according to the DOS box installer that came up), but when I try to start the game in Steam it says "RUNNING" for a couple of seconds, then that goes to "SYNCING", and then nothing. It's like I never tried to boot the game in the first place.

It simply will not boot.

Anyone else had this issue? Any tips getting the game to actually run?

Square has a bad track record with the music in these ports, everything from it not acting correctly in the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII (all of the overworld music starts over after every battle) to never bothering to put the original music in the Final Fantasy VIII PC port.

The game runs on a ROM of the GBA version, so presumably that's the only script that's in the game. The translation from the Steam version is taken entirely from the GBA translation.

I'd quite like a battle interface mod too. I'm not overly keen on the one we got.
